I think I read somewhere head could be signing for somewhere in the region of ?70M, which is just nuts if it's true - it also gives Chelsea an incredible midfield of Ballack, Kaka, Lampard, Essien, Deco, Cole, Wright-Phillips, Malouda and Mikel Obi............and probably a couple more people I've forgotten

it was pretty much level last season once Morinho left, was only a few points in it. With Deco and Kaka playing behind Drogba and Anelka, I'd put Chelski as my pick for the title.

if he did sign for say "just" ?60M and it was a 5 year deal at "just" ?100K per week (and I am being very low with those guesses) that would give Chelsea an outlay of ?85M - it's staggering to think that they believe he would be worth it, and would be able to generate at least that back in shirt sales and trophies etc - over the period of his contract

abramovich obviously dosnt care about if it makes good business sense to sign kaka he just wants to be owner of a team who dominate the league. as a neutral would be good to see what kaka can do week in week out rather than just on champions league nights

Chelsea are to announce midfielder Frank Lampard has signed a new contract at Stamford Bridge, Sky Sports News understands.

 

Lampard, 30, had been the subject of summer-long speculation as former boss Jose Mourinho attempted to lure the England international to Inter Milan.

 

The Serie A outfit bid for Lampard in July, but Chelsea swiftly rejected the approach, rumoured to be in the region of ?9.75million.

 

Rumour was rife that Lampard, whose previous contract was due to expire at the end of the 2008/09 season, was looking to leave Chelsea and he had hinted at an interest in a move to Italy and a reunion with Mourinho.

 

But he has now ended further conjecture regarding his future by penning a deal which ties him to Chelsea and is likely to see him end his playing career in West London.

 

The news will come as a major boost to new Chelsea boss Luiz Felipe Scolari who has been charged with the task of overhauling Manchester United in the Premier League UEFA Champions League.

 

Former West Ham star Lampard joined Chelsea in 2001 and has gone on to score 71 goals in 247 appearances for the Blues.

Lampard's a greedy red ginger, so he probably wanted all the attention on him, hence them saying, "world exclusive news at 5pm," instead of them saying, "Chelsea to announce news on Lampard."

 

They knew people wouldn't give a shit about the contract if they stated that way.
