6 Worst Refereeing Decisions ( Affecting Bwfc )

http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/blog/2008/...eeing.decisions

Above article got me thinking about this from a Bolton perspective.

1) Barry Knight : Ipswich vs Bolton 2000 Play Off's 2 leg ( 5 : 3 ). So many in this game which one do you choose?. I'm going for Mike Whitlow falling over, Marcus Stewart accidentally kicking the prostrate Whitlow in the head and the affore mentioned Bolton player getting a red card for his trouble. A straight red at the time. Knight later said he'd booked Whitlow earlier which was news to MW.

2) Bolton Vs Everton ( 0:0 ) : The Reebok & the Gerry Taggert goal that never was : Ref was or more importantly the linesman ?.

3) Mike Riley : Bolton vs Leicester 2:2 The two sendings off are clear but in this one I'm going for the thigh high studs up challenge by Robbie Savage on Colin Hendry

4) Mike Riley : Boro vs Bolton Carling Cup Final : Again theres a few to choose from but I'm going for Ehiogu's handball in the final minutes, best save in the game.

5) Burnley vs Bolton ( 2 : 2 ) Again a few to pick from in this classic but I'm going for Gales X rated challenge on Nicky Spooner ( least i think it was Spooner might have been Fisher), broke the Bolton's players leg in two places and all but ended his burnden career> Ref ?.

6) Rob Styles : His failure to spot a double handball when we trailed Arsenal 2-1 at the Emirates

was criminal and the final nail in Big Sam's coffin

What are your picks

Rob Styles not sending off Essien when he clattered Ben Haim. Im sure we were 1 up at that stage and lost 5-1!

Graham Poll sending off Andy Todd and Stan Collymore v Villa in 97. Handbags - I just didn't see what the fuss was about. The game's gone soft, man...

Essien was waving the imaginary card when Ricky handled the ball later on. Shithouse. Good player mind.

First home game in prem what let everton off hook, plus freekick when wolves beat us swines

Blackpool's penalty in the 1989 Freight Rover Cup Northern Final, 2nd leg.

Good shout. To anyone who thinks they're angry at yesterdays decision you should have been at Bloomfield Road when the ref gave that penalty for a Mark Winstanley tackle 2 yards outside the box.

Sounds ridiculous to compare a Freight Rover game at Blackpool to a Premiership match at Old Trafford but it meant so much more then, it really did. Thankfully it didn't cost us that day.

remember Asa Hartford tipping one over the bar for us down at Brentford - how the fck did the linesman and ref miss it?

 memory going , so i need help.

against blackpool at bloomfield rd ,

indirect free kick goalie ducked to allow it to go in ref awarded a goal.

did i dream it ?

come on george ,help me out

There was a game at Barnsley a few years ago

Memory is rubbish but I seem to think it went like this...

BWFC score a goal, the ref gives it

Barnsley protest, after a good 5 mins he changes his mind to give them a free kick

BWFC protest, another 5 mins of mayhem and he changes his mind again and gives us a free kick outside the area

Very, very strange

Was there with my old man on the falling down terrace. Bolton fans all rushed forward at the fence, meanwhile my Dad wasn't sure if he should protect his 10yr old son or his flask from being knocked over in the crush.

He made the sensible option and saved the flask. I ended up about 20 yards down the terrace on my arse.

Holdsworth scored with the original shot, as the ball was in the air the ref blew for a penalty. Initially he then gave a goal, after protests from the Barnsley players, he then gave the pen. After further protests, he consulted with the linesman, and then awarded the free kick outside the box.

Also at Barnsley a few years before, we were awarded a soft penalty in the first half, and led at the break 2-0. It was a Friday night game, live on Sky. The sky reporter showed the penalty incident to the ref at half time, and five minutes into the second half Hendrie was fouled abou 4-5 yards outside the area, and the ref awarded a penalty.

I remember a Friday night game at Barnsley in which the referee played a big part.

I think he gave us a penalty for a foul on Thompson that was well outside the area. Then there was some suggestion that the referee had evened things up by giving them one in the second half having watched the replay at half time. We scored in the second half via a massive deflection and finished up drawing 2-2.

Turns out this isn't the game I was looking for, but it may well be the worst match report I've ever read.

Seem to remember the Sky reporter at the game pointed it out to the ref.
