Who Would You Bring In As Manager?

Featured Replies

yes he was! better than any of our current midfield contingent and scored some crucial GOALS in big games as i recall. did he cost millions? remember Arse away in the cup 1-1 when we played em off the pitch in the FA cup at their ground? MOTM running midfield as i recall, oh and he could pass and open up a defence too.

any goals aside...

he could pass which is a lot more than can be said currently of muamba..

stats anyone..

he could pass thats true

but he gave the ball away more than most in his last season here

his actual ability is what made this fact more frustrating.

campo of a few years ago was an absolute belter though.

last stats i saw. muamba is as good as anybody in them for tackling

i loved campo at his best

his best wasn't last season

diouf was a cock who looked to jump ship as soon as the going got tough, so he can fcuk off

megson - if he stays - will do so because gartside sees the managers job as much more than getting points for the first team

hes gone for megson as a bloke like sam capable of managing the whole shebang

for that reason, its my opinion hes going nowhere

and i hope he stays

ps bruce rioch....4-4-2

both dead ducks

Cassie you don't half post some shit...

so just to clarify...alledgedly gary is doing a great job behind the scenes...according to the man who appointed him...and his captain who also knows what side his breads buttered on...

if we got relegated ....that's ok?...because as long as Megson is happy that he's got the tea lady using typhoo instead of PG...and the dug outs are far better with them recaro seats and no roof...

well cockadoodoldoo...that's ok then...

f*ckingstroll on you should be on the official site... :yahoo:

I would also like to suggest that we will be lucky to get 25pts as it currently stands...

so we're agreed, gartside reckons megson is doing a good job with sorting stuff out (first team excepted, for now)

so, why do you reckon gartsides gonna get rid

I'm not in the sack Megson camp.

However survival in the Premiership is worth a lot of money to the club - so irrespective of how good a job Mr Megson does elsewhere behind the scenes, if there comes a point sometime through the season that it is deemed by Messers Davies and Gartside that he is unable to keep the side up then his services will be dispensed with.

Hopefully it will not come to that and a couple of quick wins will help ease the pressure.

fernando Hierro

Ramos anyone????

whether Gartside thinks Megson is doing a good job or not...Gartside will not cut off his nose to spite his face...he will not be proved wrong on this and certainly will not publicly criticise his manager, when it was his strange decision to appoint him....he was vilified by most supporters on his decision and others in the game couldn't believe his choice...so he has to stand strong rightly or wrongly...

for me irrelevenat of what he is doing off the pitch...it is on the pitch where it matters most....all the other things are worthless if we are not in the premier league....and under his direction i would suggest we won't be for long...

and for the first paragraph i really don't think Gartside will get rid....however fan pressure in the end may force his hand...three defeats in our next three games may see it impossible for him to stay...

If Gartside still perseveres with him...then he is a bigger fool than i had him down for 12 months ago...

some days I wake up and think its all just a bad dream.

Gary Megson - Bolton Wanderers manager?

Megson? Our manager?

Gary ?fckin? Megson, manager, Bolton?

We've discussed many things on here that have started to detach fans from the club - but I'm finding that Megson is one reason I'm losing interest.

Said it time and time again - I'll stick by him as long as he is the manager and won't be slagging him off from the stands - but he ain't my first choice for manager and I'd rather get shut. However, I've no idea who is the right man - so my point is pretty much 'pointless'. Quite open to suggestion.

All this "Gartside won't admit he's wrong" - b*llocks. He admitted he was wrong with Sammy Lee and changed it round, so if he thought it was in the club's best interests, then he would do it again.

I'd like the look of Roberto Martinez at Swansea, good young manager with a taste for the passing game. Whether he'd be given more than 3 games by our tw*tish fans is another matter.

If Megson does go, what the frig are we all gonna moan about?? Global warming? Obama/McCain? Brand/Ross?

I'd like the look of Roberto Martinez at Swansea, good young manager with a taste for the passing game.

Great. But when we have talentless midfielders - what's the point in bringing in a manager who likes the passing game?

Unfortunately our next manager might have to be dictated by the personnel - cos Megson has spent a fortune in the last 12 months and I cannot see ED putting his hand too much deeper into his pocket come January.

BSA-neither he or us have done well since he left, he and Phil should thrash it out and move on that way we can go back to what we had, everyone happy.

Great. But when we have talentless midfielders

I don't agree with that, I think the players are better than the current system allows them to be. The shackles are on and consequently no one is expressing themselves. At Brum Muamba was box-to-box, at Bolton he's box-to-halfway. Nolan was a dynamic midfielder bursting into the box, now he looks scared of his own shadow. Garderner, Taylor and Riga all look like natural widemen being held back too.

Gartside has already stated there's money for January, and Martinez would deffo attract Ferri Baude (sp) - that lad looks class for a start.

BSA-neither he or us have done well since he left, he and Phil should thrash it out and move on that way we can go back to what we had, everyone happy.

So he can f*ck us and we just provide the KY for seconds?

BSA-neither he or us have done well since he left, he and Phil should thrash it out and move on that way we can go back to what we had, everyone happy.

Never going to happen. Whatever rumour you believe for why he left - there is no way they will ever come together as friends or through work again.

At the last BWSA meeting, PG refered to BSA as "the previous manager" - wouldn't even say his name.

megson - if he stays - will do so because gartside sees the managers job as much more than getting points for the first team

Then Gartside is as wrong as Megson IMO

First team results are the be-all and end-all

Gartside should provide the transfer / wages money (that we can afford), the manager should work to that budget and be answerable on the basis of how the team performs

Everything else is detail - surely everything the club does ultimately has the first team in mind ?

I'd suggest Megson should focus less on the peripheral stuff and spend a bit more time explaining to his players how they should score goals

Gartside should provide the transfer / wages money (that we can afford), the manager should work to that budget and be answerable on the basis of how the team performs

Unless your Sam Allardyce? In which case, throw your toys out of the pram, leave the club at the worst possible time and then let the fans bitch at the chairman for setting a budget and 'asking the manager to work to it and be answerable on the basis of how the team performs'?

Gotta be Owen Coyle, according to Wikipedia, he was Gartsides 2nd choice when he appointed Megson and he recommended him to the Burnlye chairman after he appointed that useless ginger prick

If and when the times comes to appoint a new manager - I think OC will be in with a good shout.

BSA-neither he or us have done well since he left, he and Phil should thrash it out and move on that way we can go back to what we had, everyone happy.

BSA will not be coming back, hes got another job in the pipeline. End of story, move on.

Fair enough

Not sure of the relevance to this argument, but fair enough anyway

Thats bollocks! Allardyce was given a fraction of what this twerp has been given over the last 12 months, however allardyce did work to a budget for years, got the team within touching distance of the top 4, wanted to bring 3-4 more players in the January window and was told no way. 12 months later and the purse string are loosened for Megson. To compare the two as like for like is bullshit just look and compare their respective record in the top flight through their carreers.

Win draw lose %

Allardyce 35% 30% 35%

Megson 20% 27% 53%

He was given a 'fraction' because that was what was available at the time - pre new Sky deal and while we were paying Anelka/Campo/Stelios' wages. There was no need to spend because we were overachieving on what we had - it made financial sense to save the money and pay off debts, etc --- setting a budget. This as opposed to doing a Leeds, when no matter what we spent, there was no guarantee of a return.

I wasn't comparing anything or anyone - The poster (can't rem) said a manager should work to a budget. I was pointing out that Allardyce refused to work to a budget, that is all.

Hang on - you've said in that very post he DID work to (and succeed) on a budget.

He fell out with the club in the end because he wanted more. Which he was denied. But which has been granted to Megson.

You can't have this argument every which way you want it.
