Gary Megson returns to the scene of his worst moment as Bolton boss when he takes his side to Aston Villa today.
Bolton?s bitter 4-0 defeat at Villa Park in April had them written off as relegated as their winless run extended to nine games.
It came the week after Megson?s men were 2-0 up against Arsenal only to lose 3-2.
And the trip to the Midlands was against the backdrop of back-biting from both players and coaching staff.
Bolton recovered from the Villa blow to win three of their last five matches to pull off a great escape. But Megson ? Barclays manager of the month for November ? insists that hammering at Villa proved a catalyst for change at the Reebok. Megson said: ?Last year was probably the lowest point of the club since I?ve been here. The goings-on before the game weren?t right, during the game they were shocking, and after the game, again it wasn?t right.
?There were issues that I won?t go into, but from that point onwards it was obvious that there were a lot of things around the club that needed to change, which indeed they did during the summer.
?I am not sure how bothered everybody was by the fact we were where we were. Everybody at a football club needs to be pulling in the same direction.
?There were a lot of problems around that Villa game that weren?t actually to do with the people who put their boots on and go out on the pitch.?
Bolton have had uncertain spells this season but Megson insists there is now a different atmosphere.
He added: ?I have been at West Brom when we first got promoted and you take it for granted that everybody in the squad is honest and hardworking, really good people pulling in the right way.
?You take it for granted until it is no longer there. We?ve got that here now throughout the club.?
