Moderators Carlos Posted February 28, 2009 Moderators Share Posted February 28, 2009 therein lie the crucial point! Actually, it isn't, the case in question was in Holland. Leave it with me, I know where I'm going with this one.

Traf
the answer is no. a certain streaming web site has been taken to court and it won it's case in denmark .this football streaming site is now legaly allowed to show any match in the prem They may well have won their case and are able to show games. However, our policy is to forbid the publishing of links to those games. Porn is legal, but we don't allow that either.
Moderators Carlos Posted February 28, 2009 Moderators Share Posted February 28, 2009 Shhh, don't let the facts get in the way. Which twateyes changed the spelling of "ilegal"? That was going to form the basis of my defence of WW policy.
Traf
I'm the twateyes that changed it. I don't like the front pages looking messy.
Sluffy
They may well have won their case and are able to show games. However, our policy is to forbid the publishing of links to those games. Porn is legal, but we don't allow that either. I'm not sure they have anyway! If mc.google above is referring to the court case in Holland then there seems to be remarkably little information about it - and what there seems only to be available from the defendants site only? Even then all it says is that they have blocked an injunction against them from broadcasting streams - which is certainly no resolution of the illegality of broadcasting live Premiership coverage what-so-ever! (All an injunction is anyway, is basically a legal order to 'stop doing what you have been doing until we can sort this thing out properly in court'). Watching football streams (including Premiership ones) IS legal - so anyone watching them is not committing a crime. The crime is committed by those BROADCASTING the stream. Other forums do post links to the sites broadcasting the streams. As far as I know advertisement of these links is not the same as 'broadcasting' the streams and as such I don't believe they are breaking any law - hence they continue to do it. However the policy of this site is clear and I for one respect it.
Moderators Carlos Posted February 28, 2009 Moderators Share Posted February 28, 2009 (edited) The policy of this site is simple; the lawyers HAVE been in touch and we aren't in a position to defend ourselves. Hence my asking if mc.google was a lawyer, despite his apparent confusing of Denmark with Holland and inability to even spell illegal. I'd like to establish what his credentials are for providing us with legal advice before dismissing him entirely. Traf
Yes it's definitely not illegal to post a live link to a stream of a skipping competition, according to a court in Denmark. Hope that clears this matter up once and for all.
