Could they do that though as ESPN is already part of the Sports Package, be a decent gesture if Sky leave it as a non extra payment channel,

It will be an additional monthly subscription (as Setanta was on Sky) - it was mentioned on the news somewhere, nit sure which channel or what time, I just remember them mentioning it

I don't think SKY will be interested in doing any gestures, no doubt ESPN will bump up the amount it currently charges SKY for the rights to broadcast their channels. I wiould imagine ESPN will require a seperate monthly subscription. Unlike Setanta though, ESPN have got serious money to chuck at it, and hopefully their service will be better than that of Setanta, which always looked very amateurish.

I expect thatif things go well for ESPN, then they will seriously rival SKY in bidding for the live TV packages when the whole lot are next up for auction, which'll be interesting

PS - Decent gesture - why the fck should they?

Also be intresting to see what happens over here, at the moment all the games are on FOX.

I've just rang up Virgin Media to tell them I wanted to cancel my package due to the demise of Setanta, basically I told them that if I wanted to watch PL matches now, then I would have to subscribe to SKY via them, so I may as well go direct to them. Hey presto they've given me Skysports free for 3 months, which is nice..........so it's not all bad!

I asked the bloke on the other end of the phone how ESPN would go to market, he said they didn't have the foggiest yet, but the general thought was that ESPN would release a new "subscription" channel - so in effect it wouldn't be a lot different to the Setanta set up

Pride was well better, just two blokes in a ring knocking the fuck out of each other, instead of the WWF stylee homo-erotic build up :nea:

Pride was better but is sadly no more.

Hopefully BAMMA on Bravo can come good meaning the UFC isn't the only fish in the pond as Affliction is a dead duck and no ammount of Donald Trumps money can change that
