July 30, 200916 yr Burnley are giving last seasons season ticket holders, about 7000 of them, a free 1 this season, so well done to them http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/featu...fs-exposed.html
July 30, 200916 yr Yeah, well done to them i say. I'm looking forward to this fixture, particularly meeting their most famous fan......Rocky Mills :: Has anyone else heard of him,? He's looks absolutely barking. Can you imagine him at the Reebok, he'd soon get shown the exit!! Link
July 30, 200916 yr I used to work for a Burnley fan. He was mad as a box of frogs! Anyhow, he told me a bloke he knew who went to the match named his daughter Claret Anne Blue. I actually think that's true. They're an odd lot over there.

July 30, 200916 yr Wasnt it an offer from last season? Yep its an offer they have had for the last few seasons - if you have a season ticket in the Championship and they go up to the Premiership you get a free season ticket !

July 30, 200916 yr They have a fan called Dave Burnley as well changed his name by depoll That's the one who's daughter's called Claret! He was called Dave Blackburn before apparently!
July 30, 200916 yr Hang on If I've got this right, the chairman of a business has effectively GIVEN AWAY ?1.2 million??? Moreover, he's given it away to people who would sacrifice a years worth of Microchips to have paid more in all likelihood. Am I alone in thinking he's a complete fucking retard?
July 30, 200916 yr He was only giving it away if they got into the premier league! It was an incentive for fans to buy ST's last year! They now will receive 60million over the season so no i dont think he is a fucking retard

I doubt very much that they can afford to give ?1.2 million away. I would certainly not be impressed if it was BWFC. A gesture is fine (such as a free shirt, a free game) but no club outside the top 5 or 6 can afford that.

Am I alone in thinking he's a complete fucking retard? be interesting next year when people take about passionate burnely fans are but no one mentions they only sold 6000 season tickets. as for the offer he could well have taken insurance out so that if the event happened cost is paid out, like when there is a golf competiton and the amateurs win a car for a hole in one, you pay a couple of hundred quid and if it happens the insurance company pay out. there are companies that offer such specialised deals there again when planning a season ahead they probably thought it might cost us ?1.2M but if it does we will have about 25 times that amount in TV money so not a disaster. It was an incentive for fans to buy ST's last year! They now will receive 60million over the season so no i dont think he is a fucking retard aye but selling those season tickets didn't actually get them into the premier league what was the increase from the previous season? be interesting to know how many they sold then when the offer wasn't on good PR stunt you can bet he didn't actually think they'd make it when he made the offer
July 30, 200916 yr tbh i dont think there was a large increase i also expect that the chairman and supporters didnt expect promotion
July 30, 200916 yr If Catherine Zeta Jones comes round to my house in May 2010 and does rude things to me then I will buy everyone on the site, nay everyone in Bolton, 10 pints of Stella such is my generosity. The Chairman must have thought is was the safest bet in town when he said it.
July 30, 200916 yr Yeah, well done to them i say. I'm looking forward to this fixture, particularly meeting their most famous fan......Rocky Mills :::: Has anyone else heard of him,? July 30, 200916 yr I thought the offer was, that if you signed up to buying a season ticket for the next two years you got the second one free if they went up?
July 30, 200916 yr Yeah, well done to them i say. I'm looking forward to this fixture, particularly meeting their most famous fan......Rocky Mills :::: Has anyone else heard of him,? He's looks absolutely barking. Can you imagine him at the Reebok, he'd soon get shown the exit!! Link Rocky Mills is quality. "You've got to 'it 'em, 'it 'em, n 'it 'em hard, cos if you don't, yer dead!" This coming from a 70+ year old nutter
July 31, 200916 yr They were probably about 10/1 to go up at the start of last season so if he thought they'd shift at least 10% more tickets by making the gesture, he'd make a profit as well as the good PR. A bit more than 10% given the increased cost Burnley would charge for Premier football but not a lot more.
