after 10 years, it's becoming apparent that my car is on it's last legs to the point am not willing to put anymore money into keeping it on the road

 

so starting to plan for next move

 

i don't want to be saddled with the same car for the next 10 years, so reckon I will lease

 

been having a look round the sites that come up on google for "car leasing" but does anyone have anywhere they'd particulary recommend or know of anywhere doing good deals at the moment?

Leasing is the same as buying via pcp finance, ie you're just paying off the depreciation.

 

Although every so often some cracking leasing deals popup. The best recent two being civic type r for 139 per month and Audi tt for 169 per month. Both these are half the price the should be.

 

Best thing to do would be sign up for a load of junk email from websites to get best deals.

 

You need to be open minded about which car if you want the best deal.

Really? See, I've never understood why someone would buy a car brand new unless they have shitloads of cash piled up somewhere.

 

Many people use finance to buy a new car and when they have paid it off they then part ex their old car and carry on with similar repayments but with a better car. Taking the leasing/personal contract hire option is much cheaper:

 

A ?20k car bought by someone using a 5 year finance deal, if interest free (which is definitely a best case scenario!), would cost ?333 a month. Let's say the car is worth ?5k after the 5 year period - they can then put this towards their next car.

 

A ?20k car through leasing/personal contract hire over 5 years would take the list price, ?20k in this example, and the deduct the residual value, again in this example it's ?5k and the customer pays the difference - ?250 a month. At the end of the 5 years you either purchase the car or give it back and start again.

 

We're one of the few countries who actually operate our car market as we do.

as crazy as it sounds BMW dealers were doing a cracking deal on m3 coupes recently. Better than any 3rd party company anyway. 555 + vat rings a bell. Which is just obscene for a 50k car

Whilst I've not leased a car yet, I'd suggest you're wrong NB by the fact that alot of my mates who do know about finance (whereas I'm guff in that area) lease decent motors.

I just think that if some blokes driving round in a flash motor on a short term lease trying to make out he's billy bigtime, it's quite sad. Clearly it's just my opinion. I'm not talking about executive cars, I'm talking about cars which billy bullshit is just leasing to pretend he's successful. I hope that's cleared that up.

Short term leases are fooking expensive but certainly better than splashing out 20/30/40/50/60k out and losing 30% in 12 months.

 

In short splashing out on an expensive new car is only for people who have nothing better to do with thier money and just plain daft. If I could afford to throw 50k at I car, I would still lease and buy 200k worth of car instead. Tis just 'common sense' IMO

ok, I think you're being far too presumptious and like how you assume someone leases a flash car to make themselves look better as opposed to being a financially sound investment, which is prob one reason why they might actually be a success in the first place

 

given what some of these cars actually cost to lease at the top end, you'd have to be doing alright to be able to afford to lease one too, BMWs can easy come in at 700+ a month

 

but you don't get stung by the depreciation buying a flash car would suffer

 

and can change car every 3 years for a nice new one and not suffer the costs of car repairs that tend to increase over time

Some folk spend their cash on football, some drugs, some wimmin, some whores, and some cars.

 

So long as they can afford it, so be it. Folk who look at folk in nice cars and think 'cunt' are either jealous or wish they could afford one. Fact. Tell me they'd still drive a 15 year old Ford Orion if they dropped the lottery and I'll show you a liar.

 

One of my best mates took the piss out of me when I bought a nice car, which was more or less funded by the money I saved during my 'sabatical'.

 

'How can you afford that' he asked. I asked him how much he spent in a week on fags and sitting in the pub 4 nights and 3 days a week. He reckoned on about ?150.

 

You can get a lot of car for ?600 a month but the irony was lost on him.

The only reason I'm looking at leasing a car is because I might be leaving a job where I get a company car and a lot of firms are quite restrictive with the manufacturers that you can choose from for a company car. I don't have ?30-?50k to spend on a new one (and wouldn't anyway) but I could afford ?600-?800 a month on leasing. If that deal on an M3 at ?555 plus VAT exists still I'll be a very happy man!!

At ?260+VAT, thought my link was a good deal. If you could get it for what Homer is saying though..

On one of those links it's offering a Jaguar XF 3.0d for just over ?500 a month - limited to 10k per annum mind. Belting deal nonetheless!

 

For ?300ish I've seen 3 series BMWs, Audi TT, top of the range A3s...

Not keen on the TT. A bit girly for me! Not practical with kids either. Well, presume its not, doesn't look that spacious.

 

I owe nothing on my car at the minute - its running fine - good bodywork - not really any reason to change. So mentally tough justifying shelling out a pile of money each month. But like ZK - 10 years down the line, it'll be a pile of rubble and unreliable.
