are there still some shares in the hands of others than Edwin, then

MUGS!

YES!

If you would have been told 15 years ago we could pay 2 guys ?1m a year but you'd be watching the whites in Europe and the premiership you would have laughed and then snatched there hands off.

So, because we played in Europe 2 seasons ago, your still happy that he's got a big bonus in a year when we have LOST over ?10m??

Gartside pay ?584,000 up from ?296,000 last year, although some of his ?584,000 includes pay from previous years

The ?584,000 was inclusive of pay from previous years which means some of this pay could have been from the financial year that we played in Europe.

with regards to the "Bonus" have you seen some of the bonuses bankers have got this year even though they brought the country to its knees? so yes i am quite happy for the club to pay him that amount it was a months wages for Anelka .

An interesting debate but, ultimately, futile. Eddie Davies thinks he's worth it and is holding the purse strings.

FWIW I agree with him.

Still not sure how you line things up between the high powered modern premiership and the First Division of the late 50's and early 60's. Worlds apart in my view if only for the stress and pressure involved now compared to that Darling Buds of May era.

So because Bankers got a bonus for fucking things up, its ok to give staff at the reebok a bonus for making a ?12m loss?

Think you missed the point, Bankers fucked things up, lost billions and some still walked out with ?2mil in there pockets as a bonus. As proved last week with Hull blame and praise ultimately falls to them in charge and Gartside has kept us in the premiership and after 2007/2008 when we finished 1 point above relegation i would imagine that was ED Target. Its like anything, i would imagine that there are people on this forum who's company's have made a loss over the last 12 month but because they have hit performance targets they have been rewarded with a bonus. ED owns the club he sets the top brass a target, top brass exceed target, top brass get bonus.

or is this just me being naive and stupid?

Edited by eaststandlower

Its not gonna be long until we are fucked then. Gartside must be thinking he's done a good job, he's got a bonus. How many more ?12m losses can we take?

Till we're relegated and then we're doomed

so, if gartside keeps us up, we're not doomed

must be why he got his bonus, then

gotta say, it amuses me that folk who i wouldn't trust to cross the road on their own are the loudest critics

Has there been an open AGM for the last couple of years?

Anybody who recevied a set of Accounts in the post this week is still listed as a share holder and thus, entitled to attend.

For obvious reasons when Eddie owns 90% of the club, I can't be arsed but somebody who is normally glued to day-time TV at that time, is welcome to take my place.

I might just take you up on that offer.

Send widders....

How the c?nting hell has this thread gone past post #14

"I bet Riga earns more than Gartside and he is fucking wank.

We've not not 4 pages about him though."

How about after that mind bender.

Why?

It's his salary, he doesn't award it to himself. If you want it justifying, Mr Davies is your man.

But as already said on here, ED seems happy with the job done by PG.

Because the club makes a loss, should PG work for nothing?

I appreciate the guy has put in alot of hard work and the no-one can deny the club has gone in the right direction since he became chairman. I'm sure he's enjoyed the prestige, the FA Commitees and being flown around the world watching and talking football.

However, considering the guy is supposed to already be a successful multi-millonaire (?) and a fan, I see no reason for him to be enriching himself to the tune of a half a million a year via the club. I bet he didn't envisage doing that when he became a director in 1989.

Maybe I'm naive, but I was very surprised to see the figure when flicking through the accounts yesterday..maybe the next time he feels aggrieved about any flak he should remember it...

We don't censor folk who talk sense, nor do we often censor those who talk bollocks.

However suggesting that we would, does bring our integrity into question.

And I don't entirely disagree with you, but.................

BWFC is ED's business.

It's losing money, but he seems happy enough with its performance.

He decides how he spends his money. It's not our money and therefore not really our problem.

Finally, PG isn't "enriching himself to the tune of a half a million a year via the club". He does, admittedly, get a handsome salary, but quite a significant chunk of this year's payment was either his bonus (which ED thinks he deserves) and salary owed to him from previous years. Why he had some pay deferred, who knows, but he did. And as such, his actual salary is probably around the ?250,000 a year mark: lower than any of the players.

Your the one spouting "facts". Let us see your figures.

I reckon basham, cohen and the lad davies earn less than the great one.

Where did I "spout facts" about PG's salary?

My use of the word probably should have informed you I was guessing. maybe those 3 players do earn less than PG, but I'd guess the majority of the squad earn more.

Over to you.
