What season did we lose to Bristol City in the final?

 

Came to mind a few weeks ago whilst doing the FA Level 1 Coaching Certificate. None other than Mr Simon 'flapper' Farnworth presented the First Aid course. At the end he had to sign-off the relevant page in the manual, to which I added that I should have brought in my programme from the said Bristol City final for him to autograph too. To which Mr Farnworth replied "One of the worst days of my playing career that" - no shit Sherlock that dropped cross was one of your classics!

Went to every cup final/cup semi finals/play off final at Wembley/Cardiff watching the whites since I started watching them in 82 and only ever saw 2 victories against Reading and Preston.

Was my first ever visit to Wembley - magic experience despite the result. Vivid memories of Tony Caldwell hitting the bar in line with us at 0-0 (or at least that's how it replays in my memory - I was quite young), and of their (b@stard) striker jumping over the hoardings after scoring their (b@stard) third and landing on his @rse with his legs straight out in front of him which must have absolutely fkin wrecked...
