I don't believe that PG will go down this route again, it's all speculation and i'm quite confident that an ambitious and popular choice of manager is just around the corner.

Paul Jewell did a fine job at Wigan.Only a fool would argue that taking Wigan from the third tier to 10th place in the Premier League was not doing a fine job.And there was a league cup final thrown in as well after beating Arsenal in the semi final.

A few sentences explaining why Paul Jewell is not a suitable candidate for the Bolton job after his fine work at Wigan is what I would really like.The fairly attractive side he created at Wigan with power and pace is as good as Bolton are likely to get without a new, wadded owners.

If Derby is the only answer, then perhaps it could be explained why that short unsuccessful spell was more important than the longer successful spell at Wigan.

I'm with you. Jewell would be fine, he'd win the doubters over as well so wouldn't worry about that.

Derby he had no hope with the players he inherited No idea how Billy Davies got them up in the first place.

What did he do? Made them a worse team by buying the likes of Robbie Savage on long-term and inflated contracts and proceeded to take them on a nightmare slide towards the old Division 3. Until they got rid...is that what you want?

 

He did indeed do a terrific job at Wigan but, then again, so did Megson at WBA.

At the end of the day, there is little use in speculating. We can't influence the decision and we will need to get behind whoever ends up as Bolton manager. I am over the moon that Megson has gone but the players need the backing of the supporters and being negative will do no good.

I tend to agree to with Sumo that Jewell took over a sinking ship at Derby,how much stick did Sammy Lee get when Bolton only drew with Billy Davies' poor side that were bottom of the table?Keeping Derby up from that position would have been not much short of miraculous and Jewell is not a miracle worker but his CV is a class above Megson's.Bradford has not been mentioned where he also did a very good job at our expense one season..

guess the lesson here is they work well best as a pair but under no circumstances let hutchings take over when jewell does one, as Wigan and Bradford discovered

to be fair they signed carbonne and at the time no one really understood the implicationj of bosman, they assumed if they went down could sell on, he was on more than beckham at the time.
