Right then.

Sun shining and skies clear at the moment but no chance that anything will thaw. temp currently -3. Where the roads and paths have been cleared they are very icy and will prob stay that way although the pavements tend not to be not cleared due to legal liability being assumed by the people clearing them for any subsequent upkeep.

We are forecast snow for later this afternoon and AA via local radio issues warning for icy roads for at least next 24hours.

I understand that SAFC will be speaking with local plod today to determine whether to make an early announcement.

FWIW the council have been taking a longer term view on things like school closures due to footpaths/accesses etc so maybe Sunlan, in conjunction with council will take an early decision.

Public transport running well.

Will keep you updated.

This weather report was brought to you by the number 7.

I'm not keen on the no. 7.

Can we bring Wylams back?

There are no direct trains from Manchester to Newcastle tomorrow. Anyone going on the train will have to change in York.

But were playing Sunderland...

I really can't see this going ahead to be honest, do paths etc have to be completely clear of ice/snow or just clear-ish?

Maybe there's a coefficient of slippiness ranging from 1 to 10.

1 being a Greek with a gold tooth and 10 being Cliff Richard's neck.

That'll be prior to the Elf & Safety revolution.

Burnley - Stoke - off

Burnley off, due to get the yes or no on Sunderland at 1pm, cant see it going ahead. Cant ever remember having 3 games postponep in 3 weeks.

If ours gets the OK at 1, i am going for tickets later, can we still get on free coaches does anyone know?

Think it will be off though

in most cases with games in the prem its not the pitch its the surrounding areas of the ground, and al new health and safety regs.

Just spoke to ticket office, most tickets have been sent back, asked if we should go down now and he said dont bother, they fully expect it to be called off, if not they have held a few back and there is 50 seats available on the last coach.

from the bbc

Sunderland's game with Bolton is in doubt with the city's Safety Advisory Group set to hold a second meeting to discuss conditions in the area around the Stadium of Light.

"It is too soon at this point to make a definitive decision regarding the status of the match," Sunderland Safety Advisory Group chairman Ken Scott told the club's website.

aye, it's not the snow that's the problem, it's the ice and these consistent sub zero temperatures
