Sunderland Away - Match Off

Featured Replies

500 quid for a coach for the day

aye, whatever

there might be an argument the club could subsidise it by getting a kickback from the home team

familiarity breeds contempt n'all that - if they did it every week the novelty would soon wear off & folk would get bored of it.

Reckon its better to pick the odd match where the potential following would be minimal, lay on free travel, decent ticket price - and everyone gets giddy and a good time is had by one and all.

its fooking awful on them travel coaches n'all btw- i might use em once or twice a season just beacuse its free but they do take a large part of the fun out of the 'away day' - the train or minibus journey, and en-route boozing!

They might as well do it every week, how much would it cost the club to lay 20 coaches on to Sunderland ?10,000 at the most. Its what Nicky Hunt earns in a long weekend, if we had a full away end at every game IMO we would gain an extra 5-6 points a season at least. The added support does the trick we have seen it before.

The thing is if they did it for every prem game not including manchester / lancashire = 14 games. If we laid free travel on for all these fixtures i am sure we could negotiate a better rate with the coach companies for the higher volume of use. 14 games at a conservative ?10,000 / game (20 coaches average) would cost ?140,000 a season, you get an extra ?500,000 for each place the team finish higher in the league so the coaches would at least pay for themselves with a profit IMO.

It would be a good advantage to through in with ST at least, ST holders get free travel to all prem away games outside of a 20mile radius.

people got to remember though, it's a privilege not a right, cig box maths prob won't help either

good of the club but in the long term they'll prob end up getting slated for not giving away free match tickets as well

What about free travel to home games for those outside of a 20 mile radius?

Bolton News reporting that the game in jeopardy.

It better be on. If transport can get there and the pitch is playable then game on.

if it is off, what are the chances, they can let us know before we make our ways up there?

Weather.com gives Sunderland a 30% chance of snow tomorrow and less on Saturday, it depends what attitude Sunderland take, if they are like Wigan it's off, if they are like Arsenal then it might be OK

Jeopardy's a great place: there's loads of jobs there, too.

Got 4 tickets at 1.30pm and the bloke at ticket office said just over 900 had been sold.

A good mate of mine lives in Langley about 15miles from Sunderland, just spoke to him and he said its about a foot deep around him and he cannot see the game happening on Saturday. I will wait and buy my ticket last minute, spent 2 hours looking for my Wigan ticket last night, just my look i will lose the bastard and have to pay again when its re arranged not doing the same with Sunderland.

Game will be called off today imo.

Further light snow showers expected today in Sunderland and a weather warning for 9AM tomorrow of heavy snow.

Theres absolutely no chance the game will go ahead.
