Sunderland Away - Match Off

Featured Replies

Sunny today up here but still lots of lying snow that's had no chance to thaw. Main roads are all ok and public transport working fine.

Depends if nannies decide that we need to be protected from it being a bit slippy.

I'll give an update again tomorrow.

They've got 2 full days to sort out the area surrounding the stadium. Would be dissappointed if this one is off.

You'd hope so but it depends how much more snow and freezing we get over the next couple of days. It's not just in and around the stadium but also the approaches etc that they look at.

There's no salt and they've not invented the plough yet up here although they've now been able to work out the recipe for ice in time for the summer.

Wylams?

Good stuff.

Yup they do a good range. Something for everyone. Won lots of awards etc.

It's often on at Bolton beer festival too and seems to be becoming more available outside north east.

if the pitch is fine is it controversial to just play the games with no crowd and bung the games on tv?

Just sent a text to my mate who's a mackem,i await his text back before we get our tickets,my mate has not been able to get up to the Reebok yet.

I reckon it will be off :(

Have been told that Bolton don't expect this game to be going ahead

Just sent a text to my mate who's a mackem,

Come on M, you only have one mate; Little whitt!

and you :pardon:

I thought he meant they weren't bothering with any brasses on this trip. :unknw:

George isn't going then.

According to the Bolton News we're expecting to take over 4000 to Sunderland. Should be a good atmosphere.

Looks like the missing few thousand are returning after all.

What's Homer_Jay gonna moan about now ?

so becuase we are looking at taking 4000 people to Sunderland, that means we'll be back to 23K~24K attendances at home does it?

No, it means plenty of folk enjoy a free coach trip, even if they have to watch BWFC at the half way point!

I thought they were going on the free coaches as they heard what a tourist trap Sunlan is!

Considering we are taking 2500ish more than normal, it's a possibility.

Or are you saying this ia a normal away attendance ?

Wendies have already postponed their game with Peterboro due to conditions around the ground.

I suspect most games across country will follow suit tomorrow

How many went to Chelsea in the cup? It's all about getting something for nothing off BWFC, nothing at all to do with new management.

free travel has a lot to answer for. If the coach travel wasn't free, we wouldn't be taking anywhere near 4000 people, you know it and I know it. Chelsea earlier in the year proves this point, free travel we took loads, if the travel wasn't free, we would have been lucky to take 400

So every time we have free travel, we always fill the away end ?

As I don't get to many away games these days, I'll admit I could be wrong then.

this is the newsrag talking stuff up

i bet we have less there than last year

Take it from me, you're wrong. Chelsea was a night game. Normally we would have taken 1 or 2 coaches.

Last night's game at Arsenal had attracted enough to half fill ONE coach. Same nightof the week, same city, different price structure.

pretty much.

They might as well do it every week, how much would it cost the club to lay 20 coaches on to Sunderland ?10,000 at the most. Its what Nicky Hunt earns in a long weekend, if we had a full away end at every game IMO we would gain an extra 5-6 points a season at least. The added support does the trick we have seen it before.

The thing is if they did it for every prem game not including manchester / lancashire = 14 games. If we laid free travel on for all these fixtures i am sure we could negotiate a better rate with the coach companies for the higher volume of use. 14 games at a conservative ?10,000 / game (20 coaches average) would cost ?140,000 a season, you get an extra ?500,000 for each place the team finish higher in the league so the coaches would at least pay for themselves with a profit IMO.

It would be a good advantage to through in with ST at least, ST holders get free travel to all prem away games outside of a 20mile radius.
