In the current climate, your mediocrity should be rebadged as success - with true success being a good cup run every few years. Your definition of success for year 4 is now a pipe dream.

However, he is the Messiah, so, of course he'll be successful, or he'll be as successful as is possible at Bowton then go and climb the next mountain

I would be happy with all Bolton fans pulling together and backing the manager, if that happens we are more likely to have success and I thing we will.

Success is survival with something to spare, occasional top-half finish, occasional good cup run. From where we are now, it might even be a very close brush with relegation this season.

 

Oh, wait a minute ............. according to the media we regard anything less than a CL place as failure.

i know we`re all banging ths same old drums here but the trouble is that people say things like `I`ll be happy if we stay up` but it fails to register in their pea brains that `staying up` involves losing more than half your games.

 

what they really mean is they would be happy to stay up if it meant our monthly cycle was winning convincingly once a month, scraping a good draw against a good team and perhaps narrowly losing with a plucky attacking performance in the other matches which is a load of BOLLOCKS!

Nobody can be sure of success, but IMO Coyle has the best chance of exorcising the ghost of Big Sam.

 

I believe for the first time in around three years we will probably have our manager poached off us, which is usually a good sign.

to be fair i agree with you. it was more an expected vision of success from the bolton public imo

homo also realises that if we had 3 more points, we'd be in a position in which coyle would be lauded as the messiah

To mind mind he has his work cut out given the rubbish Megson bought, bar perhaps two players.

 

We would have gone down under Megson this season for sure, so anything he can do to get us to 17th spot this year will be success. After that it depends how much he is given to spend, as much as Megson and we will be flying, half as much then 13th to 17th, less and its the annual relegation struggle.

Keeping us up is my definition of a success, and yes Megson did. It was all the shite around it that ruined it.

Keeping us in the Premier is success. Just as it would have been under the recently departed guy. But......Doing it whilst all pulling together, enjoying going to the match again and putting a smile on our faces, if OC can do that then it will make all the difference for me. After you know who I just wanted someone with a bit of enthusiasm and the fact that this guy has such an affinity with the club can only help. Let's hope it happens.
