Anyone remember that pen they missed in the Freight Rover semi final at Burnden? The guy hit the Normid sign and Nat Lofthouse was taking the piss out of it on Granada Reports.

The first ever football league game to be televised live was Blackpool v Bolton from Bloomfield Road in September 1960. It was a Saturday night game and only the second half was shown. Billy Wright was the commentator and Bolton won 1 0. I was there. I seem to recall that ITV intended televising a match every Saturday evening but for some reason this was the only game shown.

A trip down memory lane here ( Fa cup 1989/90) Blackpool vs Bolton...... sadly for us we lost ,but a good clip all the same.

Excellent clips, look at the crowds response utter joy, something gone sadly wrong with football in them 20 years.

All kicking off on here again, Blackpool fans loathe us with a passion .... http://www.fansonline.net/blackpool/mb/view.php?id=385225

Yeah, I was there too, Biff.

My memory tells me that the Reserves were at home that same afternoon at Burnden and it was a come-back game for Nat. I went to that before having to leave early to get the coach over to Blackpool. Does it ring a bell ?

How much are you betting because the first live televised game in the UK was in September 1937 from Highbury and it was Arsenal reserves v Millwall reserves. I think only about two minutes were shown. Highbury was chosen because OBs could only be transmitted over a short distance and was the nearest ground to Alexandra Palace which was the then HQ of BBC.

I was at that game sat in the stands just behind John Motson who was commentating for Match of the Day. Every time a goal was scored we all got up and went and stood over Motty watching the action replay on the monitor at his feet. The teams that day were led out by Nat and Stan Mortenson. Morty wanted to have a kick about with Nat in the centre circle but Nat refused.

5k tangerines looking for 40-50 year men to beat up, don't make me laugh.

After reading throught that, i would love to know how many were old enough or even born to remember that incident. "an eye for an eye" "only fixture im bothered about and i dont care about the football" a lot of the posts sound pathetic, i wasnt born when it happened but from my understanding we've played each other a few times since then, so why are they making next seasons game such a big deal, because they are in the prem? a lot of posts have tarred every bolton fan with the same brush, and would it make them feel better if a bolton fan should get hurt?!

understand what your saying frandsen, but listen mate were you at burnden park 1996 on black sunday? do you rememeber the hatred that filled burnded that night? it was unbeleiveable,it was kicking off in the paddock, there was actually lads trying to get from manny road north to get at em.and the bolton mob that was outside the away end was one of the biggest blood thirsty mobs youve ever seen, there were women and kids gettin spat at and all sorts.not condoning any of this,of course!

but that was due to hatred, festering hatred that had building for decades,it was the first time we had played em 13 years, previous to that we took 10,000 to old trafford in the f.a cup,do you really think some of the younger scumbag fans knew before how much bolton hated them, while they were high flying and we were rattling around the bottom divisions signing munich songs? that was all part of bolton not forgetting the events that followed 1958,and that exact feeling being passed from generation to generation.i mean for what reason do i hate man united so much? untill 1996 id never even seen us play against them!..ive got an undying hatred for the scumbags, but why? because it was drummed into me as a kid by dad, exactly the same was as it was drummed into him by his dad! one of the first bed time stories i had was how man u fans pissed all over the bolton team bus during the fa cup winning victory parade!! im sure its the same for most bolton fans on here.

what im saying is,its exactly the same thing here in blackpool, the kevin olsen murder,is still fresh in the minds of alot of the older blackpool fans, and the hatred for bolton has never, ever gone away.and that hatred, that lingering hatred, obsviously distraced by preston(just like us with tranmere, wolves, maybe balckburn),has been passed down from genration to generation.all this i wasnt even born bollox, how many bolton fans that ever sang a munich song was there then? as ive said on here before,it was only a few months ago,i was walking by a bus stop near my local and the familiar shout 'murderer, murderer'! and it was this little pissed up 40 year old blackpool fan,who i know from kicking around different pubs with his blackpool flag, before i could get to the urchin he jumped on the bus, that just sums it up.theres still the words 'welcome back bolton' written on a wall going into blackpool north station.

i had fight after fight at school for being bolton, all the older element i travell with experienced the same on a much larger scale back around the time on the murder.i remember as a kid my dad had to try a kerb his bolton accent on going in town center pubs or hed get a pasting.if anyone has forgotten the rivalry,i invite any fellow white to come and have a drink in the devonshire arms pub after a game?..and see if its forgotten then.full off 50 year old still active idiots who despise everything bolton.

bolton away is the first game on the towns lips, but i just fear embarresment as 5000+,plus thousands without tickets, will show in bolton, and it will all be lost on the younger bolton fans who would rather watch it on telly in town, and the gate is 19,000.

i just urge the bolton public, please turn up for this one..because they defiantly will..home and away.

I suspect like someone pointed out ....keyboard and warriors spring to mind.

I know many real life Blackpool fans who know i support Bolton, i get the odd p*** take off them and that's been it. Infact they view PNE as more their rivals! Having said this , i am now apprehensive about taking my son's to watch when Bolton play them at Bloomfield Rd.:(

After reading your experience of Blackpool's hatred for BWFC ,i doubt i'll be attending.....not with my son's anyway. :(

yeah iu see what your saying, i cant help but think someone is really gunna pay for the past in next years game. my 14 yr old bro said can he come with me to the away match next year? he got told no fucking way. shouldnt be like that, but thats the ugly side of football i guess

Plenty scare mongering going on. Nothing's going to happen anywhere near the ground. FACT.

Like they brought thousands since when we played em so why will thousands turn up without tickets this time? Nothing will happen.

I was in a Loughborough boozer a couple of years ago and got chatting to a group of mates of a bloke at work. All very amicable, in one of the few pubs left here with a bit of old character to it. England were playing - either that day or it had been the day before or summat - and the subject turned to football and one of that group turned out to be a Blackpool fan of 70s vintage. When I told him I was Bolton he mentioned Olsen in the very next sentence - the mood definitely changed and when I got the impression it would change even worse once he'd got another couple of strong ciders down his neck, I supped up and dragged me mate to another pub. So even miles away from the NW and in a convivial setting and with no other axe to grind, it was clear that stuff still brews uncomfortably close to the surface with them. The worry is that some poor sod with no interest in trouble whatsoever is going to pay big time at one of the games.
