First Cars

1998 1 litre white Corsa, with go faster stripe.

My first motor was a C reg Austin Metro, complete with manual choke. It was a hand-me-down from my mum. For reasons I never understood, the engine used to carry on spluttering for a good few minutes after turning the ignition off, but it got me and my mates to and from the snooker club for a couple of years, so it was a cracker as far as I was concerned.

2l Volvo 440

My mates may have mocked the dad-waggon but they all had little cheap cars that broke within a few months they weren't so mocking when i was the one towing them to the garage.

Plus come festival season 4 people and all their clobber fit in easily, and still managed 125mph full of kit.

We had a Metro in the family for almost 10 years, it was handed down from the missus to No 1 daughter then down to No 2 daughter, crackin motor

A 'C' reg polo. Manual choke doubled as an accelerator. It hated wet weather and would lose all power and wanted left alone for a few minutes whilst it composed its thoughts before I could restart the fucker (dead handy on the motorway).

It died on a country road the gearbox ended up in the passenger footwell......

1.1 fiesta in orrible maroon! had to get in on pasenger side as the lick had been nicked on drivers door!

and still managed 125mph full of kit.

Frank, there's no way you have ever broken the speed limit.

haha i'm not THAT much of a wooly lefty in real life you know.

Spectacularly inappropriately named Maestro, which I bought when living in London - from a car lot in Acton at which they filmed a few scenes from Minder. Ironically it had Bolton plates.

Got me mate, an old West Indian piss-can who had retired to Clive Lloyd House up in Tottenham, and formally who did the cars for Micky Duff's mob (the old boxing promoter - and he still got us plenty of free tickets that way for gangster infested nights at such salbrious emporia as the Elephant and Castle Leisure Centre...and a few at Wembley Grand Hall and th'Albert Hall, which was good as it was a 200yd stumble from the staff boozer where I was...some great nights with them tickets: Lennox Lewis stuffing Gary Mason, Lloyd Honeyghan getting twatted by Mark Breland and also the sad sight of Rod Douglas getting brain damaged by Herol Graham at Wembley Arena in 1989) to "service" it, but the silly cunt fucked up and so the AA had to attend its first major run out after the newly fitted fan belt wrenched the pump off.

By the end it would only go into 3rd or reverse.

Happy days.
