Fanzone Today?

can't see any info whether it is open today, if it is why do the club not market this better? An advert in the BEN and online on the club site and on fans forums etc. Why is our marketing dept not pushing this?

last night i got told it was on.

they used to push it when it first opened but i dunno why they stopped pushing it

I could be wrong but didn't they say it was now permanent after success last season, I think they only announce if it is closed.

I think it's permanent unless we're playing the DMBs. For that reason, I am out! They either make it permanent irrespective of the opponents and irrespective of the little bit of extra revenue or I won't be visiting.

Time to make a stand against the corporates riding roughshod over the common fan.

If the BWFC mandarins are reading this; and I know they are; please pass on my regards to the right department.

Walked past the fanzone today and, based on the noise coming out from the live band, I'm glad I don't go in any more!

Went in today and enjoyed the atmosphere in there and my son enjoyed the kids facilities, the only small drawback is no draught ale, other than that definitely will be back there when take my son along.

its fine for what it is, mounts

sad to say having a moan about bwfc floats folks boats

I went in the fanzone today....I think its brilliant... ok.. needs tweeking a little here and there, but on the whole.. it ticks alot of boxes.

it's a big room that sells beer and pies where fans can gather before the game.

as with the stadium itself it's up to the fans to create the atmosphere they'd like.

What - no foot massages or anything? Fook that.

If it's fine for what it is, what exactly is it?

I was under the impression, when they first kicked the whole Fanzone thing off, that it was to stoke up some feelgood factor that would hopefully get folk in the mood to recreate that atmosphere inside the ground. sad to say they failed.

They failed when they started putting live games on the big screen when they could so easily have played the old Roadrunner stuff.

They failed when they allowed talentless acts; be they comedy, magic or musical. This was never supposed to be a facility for an act to get important practice in front of a live audience. Someone is supposed to vet the acts prior to their appearance in public.

They failed when they priced the beer. What's the point of buying a bottle in Fanzone for a pound more than you pay in the local bars?

They failed when they allowed young kids to run riot and generally piss other users off at the lack of parental supervision.

Most of all, they failed when they allowed the ManU corporates to use the facility rather than their own supporters. Yes, I've done the maths and yes, I agree it makes them a bit more money than the fanzone would for the same game.

It isn't about the money though. It's about the supporters. The sooner they realise that the club is losing supporters in droves because of the expense and general feeling that it is no longer a working lad's passtime, the better.

They won't realise that until someone tells them... and I'm not talking about a few moaning sods on fansites....!

Do you seriously think people on here haven't communicated with people at the club?

You do know that the idea of a fanzone was that of people from here?

Cash is always king I'm afraid.

I like most of my age have never forgiven the club for kicking us supporters out of the 'supporters club lounge' at Burnden Park for the corporate lot. Yes it was always about money then too. So somethings never change even over time.

Fanzone alreet,dont go in a lot mind,well done BWFC i saygood.gif

One thing, beer needs to be a LOT colder

I know people on here have communicated with the club over the years.... that wasn't my point...!

my point was.... there is an 'official' supporters club that has the ear of the club...... tell them to raise all the points... I know for a fact the the club is trying (finally)to connect with the supporters... they've come up with the fanzone.... so now they need to know how to taylor it to the needs of the majority of supporters who want to use it....!

The odd fan saying its no good because this, that and the other is just not going to be heard........!

I take it you missed my comment that it was people on here who came up with the fanzone.

Never mind.

Ye,let's all join the official supporters club. Have you heard what happened to the last person who tried to make constructive comments there?

no...I didn't miss your comment....I purposely sidesteped it... because... I too mentioned a supporters club in that very room to Gorden Hargreaves and Paul Fletcher...12yrs ago...the same time I mentioned how stupid it was to have the ticket office at the front 3mile away from the shop and car parks...! I'm also aware that 3 other fansites and numerous supporters have met or corrosponded with the club on the same issue over the last 10yrs....!

But it shouldn't take 12,10,5 or even 2yrs to get things done should it....?

But that was one person on his own.....! if there where 20/30 of you.... ?

Good luck to you or anyone else who tries then. Don't get me wrong, Gartside is a reasonable man to speak to but I just believe football has changed so much in the last 10 years it'd be a pointless exercise. I know it's a negative thing to say but I'm just being honest.

I'm failing to see the connection on that one

What's not to see? It is one of the reasons Fanzone is shit. Folk turn up and ignore the bad behaviour of their kids. An improvement would be for either parents to stop ignoring their little darlings as they bang into every fucker in there while playing tig or to have trained folk with cattle prods keeping the little twats in line.

Much better now they have the dedicated area for kids in the corner

  • 2 weeks later...

Do they have the fanzone on for early kick offs? ala Spurs on Satday?

dont think so.

they can only serve booze from a certain time cant they, and it wouldnt be worth it

I thought it was open from 11am (might be wrong)

I'd be very suprised if the Reebok licence doesnt allow them to serve from 9am.
