Fellaini is constant offender with the elbow, even by his own admission with that "less dangerous" quote

fact is, despite his practice, I doubt he's accurate enough to know whether an elbow would end up being a career threatener or not, particulary if he leads with it

he does it alot and it could quite easily end up like an injury described in those links

just because he hasn't ended anyone's career when doing it, doesn't mean it's no better or worse than a two footed challenege, which also may or may not end a career

and I think it's fair to say Fellaini does more elbows than Nolan does two footed over the ball tackles, though I don't have anything to back that up

aplogies for using some facts in my arguement, I know it's not your style

So what's your stance on Kevin Davies ?

So what's your stance on Kevin Davies ?

honest & competitive, sometimes clumsy, name me a player who isn't

most yellow cards / most fouled player etc - most are innocuous, not what I would class as dirty

I remember the red card he got at Charlton for an elbow on Heraidderson, he went down in a heap crying to get him sent off, turns out, following the elbow Davies received in the first half, he played on with a fractured cheekbone, he also got straight up and on with it - which makes him, in my book, honest - which in turn doesn't make a him player many opposition teams would seem to want to have a career threatening injury in return for his behaviour on the pitch - not like you on Nolan, or most football fans on Savage, Barton, Keane etc

I can't think of many if any Davies challenges that have had the footballing world rounding him on him as a dirty c?nt who goes out looking for it

Davies is tough. But he is still dirty, and leads with his elbow, just like Fellaini.

You liking him becasue he played with a broken cheekbone does not change that.

Ahh the footballing world eh, as in Match Of The Day, putting together a montage of Fellaini's elbow's together !?!

Shockingly biased Media!

I never saw that, did they do one?

there's a reason for that I guess

and all those articles on Fellaini, describing incident of him using persistantly using his elbow

shockingly bias is actually a good way of summing this thread up

Well back to the point.

Nolan is a dirt shithouse, bring on his injury !

I remember his staying up with the lads in the Moathouse after a drunken Sportsmans dinner

Having said that, I may well have made that up but I'm sure I woke up in the bogs and he was sat in my seat when I came back

We were still there when he checked out in the morning.

At the player of the year dinner next year he rememebered us from that night.

Given i have a 24 hour blank on the first night i have to admire his memory. Henri Lloyd got him to sign an item that evening.

will you take an elbow from Fellaini in his eye socket?

I will remember that then, MOTD always spot on !

No.

A sore eye, for a smashed knee and the next 18 months ruined ????

I'm not sure Gary Mabbutt'd agree with you there.

David Bust would, as would Be Arfa, Nilis, Ramsey, Eduardo, and Diaby !

You can name as many as you want, it doesn't justify an elbow in a socket. IIRC, he needed facial reconstruction, not a plaster on a leg. Neither are right but you are trivialising something potentially life changing to mould your reasoning.

ha, no, we've all taken our fair share of sh?t from MOTD

never saw it and just find it odd they'd do a Fellaini elbow "montage", are you sure it wasn't just everton highlights?

was it delivered as a case for prosecution or more a humourous montage with a benny hill theme tune or similar? I'm curious

I'd also take a "sore eye" over a broken leg, but not over partial blindness or brain surgery

Oh come on, when has that ever happened ??? Where as a Career ender happens more often, making that more dangerous !

On 8 November 2008, Barnsley player Iain Hume's skull was fractured when it was caught by Morgan's elbow as the players challenged for an aerial ball. Hume underwent emergency surgery after suffering internal bleeding and spent 48 hours in the high-dependency unit of a Manchester hospital with life-threatening injuries. He spent a further 48 hours in hospital two weeks later, as a precautionary measure after feeling unwell at home. In May 2009 it was reported that Barnsley F.C. and Hume were considering legal action against Morgan, who described the period since the incident as "a test of character

I posted the link earlier when you asked

"An elbow to END A PLAYERS CAREER ???"

showing numerous cases of elbows leading to serious injuries - in most cases, the intent was there

of the career enders you mentioned

"David Bust would, as would Be Arfa, Nilis, Ramsey, Eduardo, and Diaby"

how many were deliberate on the back of intent and how many were accidents? Off the top of my head, Buust, Eduardo & Nillis were accidents - Arfa was crocked by a dirty player, Ramsey - well that's debatable but I'll go with mistimed, I don't recall Diaby's

how many players are as notorious for delivering "career enders" tackles as Fellaini is for his for deliblately going in with elbows, even by his own admission (see the link about his dangerous ways)

point being, elbows can lead to serious injuries other than a sore eye, but such injuries are not as common.

fact is fellaini does it a lot more than the average footballer and has gained a reputation for elbows, which I think makes him a dirty player, because one of these days, the player on the end of one may not be so lucky, and will come away with more than a sore eye

in summary, Fellaini is dirty

that tackle from Nolan was a shocker too, never defended it

but if you think trying to injure a player with an elbow is no worse than going in two footed because players only get "sore eyes", then you're mistaken, because there are plenty cases of elbows gone wrong, just as there are tackles gone wrong

or gone right

depending on the intent

Fair enough.

But I did say that Fellaini IS Dirty.

He is damn good. But I just cant take to him that much. I want to see Rodwell played more.

Much rather see an English academy lad given a chance.

Another good season, and we could get a fortune for the Wigged one!

Nolan was'nt the same since we lost Jay Jay & Yourri then got Anelka & went 4-3-3 with SKD, Diouff & Anelka upfront. Big Sam sacrificed Nolan as our box to box midfielder & made him our disrupter in chief, win the ball give it to Campo. This continued under Lee & Smegson. As I told a Toon mate at the time they signed him for 4m about right as a disrupter but 10m as a box to box midfielder, which is what he's doing now.

According to his dad ( & I spoke to him on the phone the day the sale was done ) he was in tears when he was told Bolton had sold him. Loved our club.

He'll get an ovation from me on the 20th.

Absolutely. May baulk at singing "Hey Kevin nolan, I wanna kno-o-o-o-ow if you'll score a goal!"

I bet he's gutted that he's now captain of one of the biggest clubs in the land after scoring a hat-trick in the most passionate derby game in England, thus ensuring legendary status, King Kev.
