To be fair to the students, the increase in tuition fees is considerably high. It's not like they are going to get more for their money (I know it's a loan) than students that have already graduated and who paid less.

 

However once they graduate they will only be paying a small amount each month for the rest of their lives. It's their choice to go the university.

 

What fcuks me off is that I have graduated (22k in debt) and can't find a decent job. Currently get paid less than 15k a year so don't pay anything of my loan. IMO this mess is the Labour governments fault for promising that going to university is the best option for young people who want to have a steady and successful career once they graduate. Saying that 4 years of solid drinking - I wouldn't have changed it for the world. BUT

 

I didn't know graduation meant unemployment!

I've got Sky News on & they're chatting to a number of students who are saying it's dirty anarchists who've ruined their march. I do actually feel sorry for that set of people as they've now come away from the protest in disgust as fellow marchers chucking missiles including some c?nt who threw a fire extinguisher from the roof. Now they want arresting for that.

As these lads said, who's going to take them seriously now.

Also, where the fuck were the police in the first place, anybody with half a brain would know they'd go to Millbank & apparently there as Dixon of Dock green & some female officers & that's about it. Spider's right, it's a good job they're not terrorists who are in there now.

Did a BA(Hons)Law and Criminology, with the intention in becoming a probation officer, a police officer or joining the prison service. Sadly the public sector isn't to rosy at the minute. Not overly concerned at the minute as I'm only 23 but going back into retail was like a kick in the teeth. Better than signing on though!

Loads of students are like this. They expect some 25k job straight out of uni. I read somewhere the average graduate starting wage is 15k. There's something daft like 20 graduates per position, with 25% not even getting called back after submitting a CV. Now is not a good time to be a graduate!

The fuckin lot of them should be water cannoned, pepper sprayed, batoned and then thrown in the Thames, fuck off to Eastern Europe and try that and you'll get shot, workshy tax doging fuckin layabouts

The vast majority of folk that go to Uni shouldn't be there - they should be out learning how to do a fucking job UNLESS their degree is vocational

 

That's why certain trades can charge us a fortune now - it's supply and demand

 

From my 3 years at University I learnt absolutely fuck-all - not a thing that is remotely useful - it was too easy to go and get pissed, shag women and play footy for 3 years.

 

One lad I know managed to go to Uni without ever passing a GCSE in Maths...what exactly is the purpose of our Universities? Further Education for all and sundry or to genuinely provide 1st class R&D facilities etc for our top brains?

 

The difficulty is in balancing reducing numbers and in doing so making sure it's only elitist in terms of those that should be there, rather than those that can pay to be there.

I don't expect 25k, Probation you start on 17k, prison services 15k. The problem with jobs for graduates is crazy at the minute, I was being rejected from HMV for being over qualified. With more people 'with experience' already in their field being made redundant, the people who are graduating now haven?t got a hope in hells chance of getting their career started. Ideally I would like to use my degree!
