Just had word we have signed Tyrone Mears and Chris Eagles from Burnley for ?3 million.

 

 

Jeffren is close to being a sealed deal also.

Jeffran was an unused sub for Barca yesterday.

I like Eagles, hopefully he can be successful for us. Neither player will make us worse and we can at least fill the bench.

 

I believe the combined fee of ?3m consists of ?5m for Eagles and -?2m for Mears.

 

Feel sorry for Colin Harvey looking through all those videos every Monday morning and then we end up signing 2 more old mates from Burnley.

 

Eagles isn't bad but inconsistent. Mears is a shocker for playing people on-side, so we won't be able to play a high line which was the base for our success when we played well away from home last season in the Cup.

This'll teach me to read things properly next time, knew they had a friendly, checked their site this morning and I didn't scroll down to see he was indeed a used sub, reading the report he seems to have had a decent game.

 

Would he play though if he was going to sign for us? I'm thinking medical here.

Played Bury, in a friendly, hardly the premier league eh?. Mears makes far too many mistakes, Eagles simply not good enough.

He did. Got into some good positions but you can tell he's more comfortable on the wing. Looks a good signing. As for Mears, he looked no better than Gretar which is worrying. Still it was only a friendly, let's see how he does when the season starts.

If either player start the season, I'll be surprised.

 

In fact I doubt they'll get 20 starts between them.
