Matt, It did not add up to ?7.2 million, but then what about the 5% increased attendance, the increases in corporate, increase in merchandise sales and the TV money etc.......... BWFC have just released the financial info for last year, could it be the team suffered to improve the balance sheet, or am I a sceptic? Improved balance sheets usually relate to higher bonuses for the top management. mmmmmmmmm It appears there is nothing worth having in the EPL transfer market below ?5 mil, None of our incomers were near that. Garside out.

But if we don?t have any money we don?t have any money. Should we just plough on regardless and go another 90 million in debt?

OC had to shuffle the squad with the player sales mentioned above and bring in the free transfers of Pratley, Reo Coker and loans of Boyata, Tuncay and Kakuta. Not bad going really. The major factor was not getting the money our board thought we would get for Cahill. Whether or not that money would of gone straight back into the squad I suppose we will find out in January when we sell for 5-7m.

Once Eddie takes him 5m back and he and villa get their cuts if any profit there won't be much left if he goes for those prices

We sold

Al-Habsi for 4m

Taylor for 2.2m

And ward for 1m

Giving a total of 7.2m

We bought

N'Gog for 4m

Eagles and Mears for a joint 2.75

Which makes 6.75m

Giving 450k to cover the loan fees and signing in fees of NRC, Pratley, Tuncay, Kakuta and Boyata

Forgot about the signing on eliment for the other players but it still underlines what I said. You made no mention of the other points?

I think I probably over cooked it at 5m, considering he can walk for nothing 6 months later. Grim times indeed.

I can't understand how people think that somebody at the club 'fucked up big time' by not selling Cahill in the summer. It was stated by many on here at the time that our efforts to sell him were starting to look looked desperate. We can't have it both ways. The simple fact is that all the big boys knew about his contract status, they knew we wanted to sell and they knew he was likely that he would want to leave. Yet, we only got one bid - that was way below our valuation. Would we have been saying that 'somebody at the club did a great job' if we sold him for 6 mil or whatever it was?

Fact is, he was available and nobody matched the club's valuation. In my book that is not fucking it up.

Who?s said we fucked up by not selling him? However selling him for the prices we were prostituting him out for, would of helped our squad massively, but at those prices no one was biting and rightly so.

Either way you look at it a club like ours just can?t afford to lose a top player every year for nothing. Elmander last Year, Cahill this year, Chungy or Holden the next.....

Well we have to totally bite the bullet and accpet him walking for free in june, cant sell him for 4-5m in Janaury (cant see anyone paying much more) right in middle of a relegation battle.

Are we actually in a battle? :pardon:

I thought to be in a battle you had to do a bit of fighting. I've not seen much in the way of fighting so far.

Selling Matt Taylor is beginning to look more and more like a bad decision.

he would still be playing alongside the other 3 in midfield though

correct - had we been in this situation and had sold him, then we'd have fucked up there as well - he'll go in Jan now and we'll prob get ?5m for him - then we'll have fucked up by not getting him to sign a new contract, which many thought could/would/should have happened when we didn't sell him in the summer

conservative estimates there as the reality there is that it would prob cost a lot more than 450k to sign 2 frees and 3 loan players - plus we had the 2.5M bid in for SWP had he chosen to join - the point remains the same though - he got his money back, had we sold Cahill, he may have got more

Duncan Ayling

Rory Kiernan

HAHAHAH Named and shamed

Personally i think twitter is a load of shit. Sad.

What do people tweet about

"Just gonna take a shit"

"eating my lunch"

"going the freehouse for a few jars"

that type of shit?

Who gives a toss what job bloggs is doing. Gash.

Posted (edited)

I tink it was Sean Lock who said words to the effect of people who "tweet" are people who cannot shut the fuck up ... even when they're sat there alone.
