Spot on. Ive quit in the past by following that advice, still a social smoker though which im trying to stop.

 

What is sociable about smoking these days?

I'm an ex smoker (30-40 a day) and stopped because the consultant told me I'd die if I didn't. Better than any patches that.

The cost that put me off, when I smoked full time it was costing me each year the equivilant of a months pay after tax. Working the whole of January just to buy fags.

Once heard of a slow withdrawal method someone once did.

Bought a pack, threw one away, then smoked the rest.

Next pack, threw 2 away, smoked the rest.

And so on.

Last pack- threw all of them away bar one- this was last cig he ever smoked.

 

Made him realize just what a waste of money it had all been.

Always useful having a pint pot on your table or wherever and sticking the money you would have spent on fags in there, gives you a visual of the amount you were spending, after about a couple of months or so i had enough to clear off on holiday with.

i've managed 11 weeks without having any cigarettes now,and i didn't even particularly wanna stop.

Doing fine mate, not smoked a cigarette for over 3 months The start up costs are the most expensive time,because you need extra batteries and chargers etc - about ?30 will buy a starter kit with charger and about the equivalent of around 200 fags.

Now that i'm all set up with chargers/extra batteries etc, it costs me around ?50 a month - real cigarettes used to cost me around ?200 per month

 

Have a look at this site, but don't believe the spiel that each cartomizer is equivalent to 40 fags - more like 20 fags i'd say -

I knocked weed on the head on Jan 2nd - not in a I'll never have it again type of way, can't beat a good session with mates, more a no need to have 5 spliffs every day after work type of way

 

so far so good, can't see me slipping back...

 

but still been tabbing as an alternative

 

now not had a cig for 2 days, but am sure the test will come over the weekend when booze involved

 

I'm almost not even arsed about having cigs after a few beers, it more when have some left over from the weekend and end up smoking them for the sake of it

Just when the booze is involved for me. Not touched a fag in two weeks now though and been pissed around 3 times in that time span. Things are looking up.

when I was smoking weed, i never got the urge to have a fag - never smoke cigs during the day / when sober, just no urge at all

 

first couple of weeks after deciding to stop weed - mainly as after smoking it for 10 years I was getting bored of it, wasn't' fun, thoughts often dark and was perhaps likely to go mental at some point in the future - i got urges to smoke fags, but guess that was really a spliff craving

 

they seem to be waning now

 

but will come back after a beer

 

promise myself a big weed session every other month or so, not had one yet

 

if i have booze / fags in the flat I can take em or leave em no probs

 

if there was weed i would smoke it, then when i run out, buy more, and so on, could never leave it

 

not good for you, enjoyable enough, but not good

never got weed, it just makes me want to go to bed

I packed in over 30yrs ago, was hard, just chewing gum and mints then.

 

Worth it in the end. sometimes have nightmares that i've started again.

Doing fantastico. Nearly 4 weeks without a smoke.

 

I am spending on average ?10 a week on cartridges so much cheaper than the real smokes. Enjoying the fact that I don't have to get off my arse in the pub either.

I quit smoking 6 years ago and was spending ?40 a week on cigs. I set up a new account and debited ?40 a week into it which paid for trips to Guimaraes, Munich and Madrid.

 

Best decision I ever made.
