Mine plays pretty much everything, .avi and .mkv are your main files, which is usually how you get them. MP4 is for iDevices and such shit I think.

is there a more common file type? MP4?

 

Our samsung tele doesn't play films etc. Although it supports pictures and music

I just download 'em as avi files pop 'em on the stick and they play superb.Great sound and picture.(Thats on a Samsung).Had a Toshiba before that and it was gash!

It doesnt have the usb thingy but apart from that its all good

The file name will usually end with either this- DVDRip.XviD.AC3-3LT0N.avi or it will have .mkv at the end.Just unpack it with Winrar (just google for this) and you will end up with either an avi or mkv file.Just copy that file to the stick,plug it in the telly open can and relax!
