Edinburgh's a cracking place, and thers some lovely scenery up in the highlands but when it comes to Abderdeen you will have to be really really pissed to have much fun in that dark and dreary place. Im sure the footy will keep you entertained though. Have a goodun

I loved Aberdeen, never got how people called it a dark and dreary place.

 

Mind you, I am a Joy Division fan.

Yeah I would probably describe some of the housing schemes in the suburbs dark & dreary but the centre is very nice.

 

Beach Esplanade area near the ground is also very impressive, with the port & the lighthouse etc.

 

There's a few bob knocking around those parts with the offshore economy.

That's the fella, just googled it. The staff are very knowledgable. I'm not a whisky lover myself but they found a few for me that I enjoyed.

Aye, similar to myself. Not normally keen on whisky, but they've some real smooth stuff that's not like the pish we get down here.

 

Although I also now quite like Makers Mark.

I'm up in Aberdeen on a regular bases, but tend to stay out of town these days. Grill bar on Union St is OK, but try the Soul Bar a little further up. This in an

old church converted into bar and restaurant etc.....can get very busy with very loud music if you like that kind of thing

bloody hell. I'm only there for a day... if I go in every pub recommended I'll be pissed before the match... hang on though... that might be a plan!!

Was working on a Chiquitos about 13 years ago in Aberdeen. I went to Pittodrie when they played Dundee on my day off, i made a mistake of wearing the blue away Bolton shirt at the time and got some abuse off the sheep with some thinking it was a Gers shirt from behind.

My question is more like to be, any decent chippys that serve deep fried mars bars near the bookies opposite the drunken sassenach pub?

There is a small bakery on Chapel St (off Union St at the top end towards Holburn Junction) which is open all night. Taxi Rank outside, and all the dancers from private eyes (lap dancing club) are often in there having a bite to eat before they head off home. Had a few good laughs in there in the early hours of the morning.

 

The worlds your Oyster in Aberdeen mate, and plenty to go at......

Ha ha, to be fair, it might lack the masculinity but press night parties are usually messy affairs.

 

And by Christ, last time I was up there we had the most glamourously beautiful ladies turning up. God love the oil industry. Then we went Glasgow, bit different!

I'm warming up now... no drink tonight... plenty of food, made a huge spaghetti bolognese that would have fed 4 and only have a bit left for breakfast before i go (you think I'm joking but I'm not spag bol at 7.15 is ace)

 

Just going to get the hair clippers out in case I sleep in (no chance) and iron my chinos and cheese cloth shirt ready for go
