According to this week's Athletics Weekly Sam Ricketts spent 4 months training at Lee Valley Athletics Centre working alongside Dwain Chambers, Marlon Devonish, Christian Malcolm and Greg Rutherford.

A former county schools long jumper and 400m runner for Buckinghamshire, Ricketts said:

"Now I do separate warm-ups before training, I do different circuits for my whole body and have also slightly changed my running style.

"Nutritionally, I've also learned so much. The aim was to come back fitter, stronger and quicker than I was before. And I think I've achieved that.

"As soon as they come back from South Africa, a couple of them hope to come up for a Bolton game."

Is it true that Tim Ream is a decent atlete as well? Apparently he had the choice of going into athletics or football and he is supposed to be very quick

Ream apparently broke the club record for a 30yrd sprint from a standing start.

ricketts was quick before his injury, but looked slow in his 1st couple of games back.

did ok against walcott from what i remember though, so maybe hes just building upto it.

fuck a duck

nearly shat myself when I read that

Yup apparently Ream battered chungys and sturridges times

Pace at the back is something we've been missing for quite a while..

Bet he's not as fast as David Lee. Nobody's as fast as David Lee.

One of my all time Burnden era songs was about that very subject, sadly it didn't get an airing as often as it should, but I loved it's simplicity.

'David Lee, David Lee, David Lee, he's fast as fuck, he's fast as fuck'

By the sound of things Ream could be our fastest centre back since Dave "Sutty for England" Sutton

New Japanese lad from Arsenal is a bit speedy too by all accounts.

JESUS, I'd forgot all about that, that was my sleeper code word, now I've got to go & assassinate some Ronald Reagan fella.

He makes speedy gonzarles look like regular gonzarlez

People have said is it Cahill going which has steadied the boat, however as someone mentioned he played at Everton.

I actually think getting ricketts back had made a massive impact! Calm, likes to organise and can get forward.

Not saying it isn't true but how do you know he likes to organise?

I've never seen him si anything of the sort

As a nipper I always seem to remember Stuart Storer being fast as fuck, perhaps it was the go faster 'tache that he had

At the Swansea game i noticed Bogdan doing a lot of shouting and organising of the bods in front of him.
