The Bottom 5 League...

Alright, its my day off and in between making my fiance cry for being an unromantic shithouse I thought id pull together the results against each other so far for this season:

Played Won Drew Lost for Against GD Pts

Bolton 5 3 1 1 11 5 6 10

Wolves 5 3 1 1 8 3 5 10

QPR 7 2 1 4 10 13 -3 7

Wigan 6 2 1 3 4 13 -9 7

Dingle 5 1 2 2 8 9 -1 5

Cant say for definate its all correct as I went through the results list ont prem website (GEEK).

Anyway IF we can get some wins ont board against the other 3 we have to play (rovers, QPR and wolves) I reckon we have got a punchers chance.

Thats as positive as your getting from me today!

EDIT - Wouldnt let me copy and paste from excel (GEEK)

wouldve looked so much better if we had 13 points and wiggin had 4

winning against wigin would of also given a couple of teams above us a bit of a worry as well.

Correct.

But its good to see QPR only have one more game against the bottom 5, and blackburn and wigan are poorer against the poorest teams than we are.

But what's bad to see is that whenever the pundits say things along the lines of <insert team name> haven't won/scored for 6 matches, we'll fucking gift wrap them three points. Bolton have always been the same. Was it late 80s that Bolton were on a three million and twenty two* match unbeaten run and we were playing Blackpool in a tin-pot cup game. They fucking dicked us!

*Give or take a few

we'll piss that league, wont we

We'll make the top 4.

I also had another look at it a minute ago, we have got half our points this season against these 4 teams!

Altogether now...CAN WE PLAY YOU EVERY WEEK!

I didn't want you all seeing my "soapy tit wank" search in the Google search bar.

Hahaha

  • 2 weeks later...

Having watched highlights of all the bottom five last night we are probably the worst on current form.

It could have gone really bad for us yesterday but for the time being we are still in with a hope, even if it is diminishing with every poor display. January now look likes a blip of good form rather than a turning point!

Wigan and Wolves are scrapping well and picking up the odd point.

QPR don't look good but will we beat them? Ditto Blackburn.

Our only hope is that we can take advantage of apathy setting in to some of our opponents in the home games to come.

For example, Spurs with the FACup on their mind or Fulham already on their Summer holidays.

I don't see us getting the necessary points without help.

This is what it has come to unfortunately, straws being desperately clutched!!

Did you not watch city v rovers?

They were worse than us yesterday.

We made mistakes, they were barely a team

After city come qpr. Blackburn, wolves and fulham home and they will determined where we will finish..

I did and they were awful but so were we.

They were also playing a team on top form who haven't lost at home for a year.

I agree but I'm not hopeful.

We were shit, it's true.

We've also got just three draws to show for our last 17 games against Chelsea.

Even when we've been decent we've not been able to beat them.

This much-trumpeted demise just means they aren't in a position to challenge for the title - it doesn't mean they're suddenly there to be picked off by sides in the bottom three.

Just being in a position to throw away a three goal lead against the Scum suggests there's still plenty of quality there.

It would hurt like fuck but I wish we capable of that.

They're still fourth and have only lost at home to Liverpool, Arsenal and, er, Villa. And they stuck five past us in a hack canter at our place, so you could almost argue we're getting better.

But we're not.

After city come qpr. Blackburn, wolves and fulham home and they will determined where we will finish..

Exactly - it's all about home form.

Looking back at our stint in the Prem our average away points tally for the season is 18, but that includes 3 seasons where we had ridiculously good away hauls - take them out and the average is 15. We've got 12 already, so even with just a few scabby draws we can reach that. But home to QPR, Blackburn, Fulham, Swansea and WBA are all winnable - and to be honest we need at least 4 wins and a draw from them to have a chance. And to be doubly honest, if we can't be winning them games we don't deserve to stay up.

As an aside - which of them bottom 5 would have the best chance of doing well and coming straight back up after relegation?

I did and they were awful but so were we.

They were also playing a team on top form who haven't lost at home for a year.

i think you're stretching it a bit when you say playing i dont think rovers even got goin just there to make up numbers , i mean we complain about lack of effort but that was unforgivable ,if our lot play like that next week i'd feel humiliated . they might have world class players but that dont give you the right to three points just for turnin up

Just been looking again at this bottom 5 league. IMO Wigan are down in bottom place. Can't see them getting a point in April with Chelsea (a), Man utd (h) & Arsenal (a) amongst others. If we beat qpr & I think we will, i reckon that's them down with their run in. Can't split the other 3. Our survival is all down to Coyle learning from his mistakes.I.e. Stopping 442, playing Muamba, using skd as a 15m impact sub only & not letting Pratley anywhere near the first team. If he does all these, we'll stay up.

And there in lies the problem!

Goldie never learns from his mistakes, though
