Like it or not, Megson can justifiably give a valid reason for what he did. (Whether you agree wit it is a different argument). It backfired on him though.

 

As NB says though, Pulis has no excuse for that tonight. If I was a Stoke fan I'd be furious.

Great support tonight but about bloody time because all there other euro followings have been shit!

Stoke did what Bolton did first time around - went out in last 32 against a big name team.

Pulis left 9 of his full strength 18 at home but still fielded a competitive team who had their chances to win.

5 bookings suggests they didn't exactly roll over (Diao, Huth, Shotton, Pennant and Jones).

They have dropped to 13th in the league and not truly safe with 30 pts.

I thought the team Pulis put out was the right one to be fair. There was enough experience to trouble a good Valencia team but gave his key players a rest.

 

His team gave them a chance but the priority is still the premier. You probably get more cash from 2 places in the PL than winning the UEFA

First season in Europe is always a tough one for clubs of our size and as you say, pulls's first priority is keeping them up.

I was surprised how much flack he was getting from Stoke fans earlier this season after a few hammerings away.

For me, he has done an excellent job.

From a personal point of view I don`t mind stoke regardless of what folk think. They remind me of the allardyce days in so many similarities, not good on the eye but effective. Bollox to the fancy football I`d rather enjoy stifling the opposition with total frustration and grabbing three points.

THe team doesn't bother me, I like the fact they've ruffled the big teams feathers. The fans are about as bad as it gets.. stuck in the 80s inbreds.. I'm probably being kind saying 80s..

They didnt play a weakened team in either leg really. Just the same rotation system they used throughout the group stage. Certainly wasnt a weakened team like ours in lisbon.

 

Valencia are just a good team. They were miles better than stoke in both legs.
