what exactly do they want to happen as a result of their protest?

Are people who have gone to London really interested in the Queen or do they just want to be part of something Iconic? best thing about this is that people get time off work, seriously at what point in your life are you supposed to feel like the Queen is a relative of yours? she's just like a celebrity on t.v, what she does, what she says etc has no effect on me, she's just an old woman who was born into a royal family, talks posh and wears gloves.

Monarchy this, patriotic that, she's probably a nice person, but until I find out she's actually my Grandma, I have no feelings towards her.

An ideal juncture to mention how many young people are there to pay tribute.

Johnny foreigners too.

I think they just want to protest. They'll be anti something else next week.

News reports of "nearly 1200 republicans were involved", whereas Sky have just said approx. 1.2million there to celebrate.

Shakes head in disbelief.

Regarding your point that the good bit is that we all get time off work; I didn't. I worked Saturday and Sunday daytime and worked last night and again tonight. That you don't actually work makes your point somewhat moot.

Oh dear, another response to one of my posts with the old you don't work card, which is false.

Okay so you didn't get time off work, what exactly do I need to do, to have one ounce of care towards the Queen, sure she may be symbolic and idolised by other's, but she's a stranger to me, difference is she is on t.v now and again, but so is Eddie Murphy for example.

Chung Yong Lee is a fucking stranger to you, yet you still drag yourself round your bedroom thinking about him.

Another example may be you being idolised by your cousin, yet you mean nothing to your uncle?

I don't celebrate his birthday or how long he's been alive, even how long he's been a Korean icon to millions of others, yes he's a stranger, but he has a connection with my life (what I'm interested in) because he plays for Bolton.

Serious question. The type of people who feel no connection to the Queen, is this from their parents, a lack of knowledge of what the Queen does or, well , why? I get what the republicans say, I don' agree, but being Great Britain, they're allowed that view.

She's not in my blood, she's no family of mine, not a neighbour nor a close friend, she lives miles away in London, just like thousands of others, I don't believe in God, so don't say GSTQ or worship her because she lives in a palace.

FWIW my parents have been watching it and have been to a do, I may have a connection one day, but I doubt it, unless she pumps money into BWFC or does something I'm interested in.

Youngsters have no respect for British values anymore

I'd say not true from watching the tv this weekend. It's up to the parents to do this though, surely.

Was the Queen a soldier?

Was the Queen a soldier?

She's the head of the Armed Forces.

People please don't rise to the bait. If Diddles prefers to be devoid of any nationalistic pride then that is upto him.

It is obvious that the symbolism of the Crown and Monarchy goes right over his head. Perhaps a sad indictment of a generation.

How anyone wouldn't be proud to be British this weekend staggers me. I just wonder if it's cool to be anti stuff like that.

Wonder if that ended in a critical headshot, eh Dids?

so you are obviously unaware of the important role that the queen played during the war

she never ran off to the countryside and hid, she was there being seen and generating support

i really despair

She's also the only person who can declare war or peace in this country.

I don't know if it's ignorance,stupidity or just japing.

This isn't me fishing, I genuinely have no care for her, I do not wish ill-well on her or other Royals, I don't dislike her, she's just a stranger to me, someone not a part of my life.

I know this isn't a shared opinion on here, but unless she does something that I find interesting and take notice worthy, then I'll always feel this way, it's like me celebrating someone I don't knows Wedding,

I was born in Britian, should that automatically make me feel like the monarchy are some kind of God? some kind of symbol that are above other strangers I do not know?

Only time I feel like I'm patriotic is when England are winning a game of football, but that would be the case if I was born in Spain, Italy, Holland etc etc. I have no interst in Politics, about money issues, the royal family or anything like that, so boring to me, I like football, consoles and funny comedies, the rest is important, but something I have no interest in learning about or getting an understanding just to be part of something others like to be a part of.

A bit like Alcohol, something people on here do like, but I don't. my thoughts on this are going to be a minority, so what I type won't be comprehensible or change other peoples pattern of thought.

Im not for or against, I'm just not interested, maybe I should be, but unless others have any ideas on how to be more into the Queen and stuff, I'm not really going to have a mind swing.
