You are correct. Though I think they are originated from the same Viking types.

Iceland was part of Denmark til 1944.

So I'd say it counts as Scandinavian.

I understand Icelanders consider themselves more Celtic, than Scandinavian. They tend more to have darker, or red hair, like the Irish and Welsh than the blond Nordic types of Scandinavia.
