Is "shite" A Swear Word?

I always thought it was, my wife (who teachs infants) says it's not.

Then I just heard a BBC local radio presenter say it twice this morning.

So is "shite" a swear word?

Featured Replies

yes, without a shadow of a doubt.

Not a particularly offensive one, but I'd still class it as swearing.

Would it sound right coming out of a little kid's mouth?

i always judge a swear word on wether A,Id be happy for my kid to say it,and B wether id get a belt round the lug of my mum if i said when i was a kid....

so i reckon yes,without doubt.

my 4 year old doesnt even know what swearing is.

he's never heard a word, let alone uttered one.

im sure that will change when he comes the adidas stadium next season...

whilst on holiday last month, the wife had a 1 year old give her bird and the v, whilst its parents laughed.

crazy.

My wife could tell some unbelievable stories about kids swearing, and she teaches 4-5 year olds (she doesn't teach them words like shite before you ask).

My daughter said "What the fucking hell" while she was playing with her Barbie in the bath the other week.

I was having a shave at the time, almost cut my nose off !!!

did wour misses give her the V back?

as a gobby 12 year old kid in a moment of sheer petulance and stupidity i made the grave mistake of telling my mum to 'fuck off' during an argument as we were entering the fairfield arms for some sunday tea,she promptly turned round a smacked me square on the nose putting me on me my arse in full view of all the dinners,i then had to sit in the car as the rest of the family had a nice tea.

it was the one and only time i ever swore at my mum.....

Is it fuckers like a swear word you set of cunts! :innocent:

I swear like a trooper so to me its not but talking to kids and stuff its a no-no.

I still get a clip round the ear off the mother in law when (not if) I swear around her.

He could get her done for assault as he is no longer a child.

Correct. It depends on who's saying it and when.

Children shouldn't swear in the same way they shouldn't have it off, drink ale or take drugs.

Not when kids can get them done for Child abuse/violence.

That is the problem with today's society and why we live in a world were people are shit scared of the youth.

When I was a kid,if we did anything wrong we got a clip round the ear from our Dad or even the local bobby - and if your parents found out Mr Plod had clipped your ear, they didn't go running to social services, they gave you one on the other ear

More's the fucking pity.

Anyway, moving on, theres a time and place and it's getting kids to know when and where its 'acceptable' - which are few and far between.

Pretending they wont or dont is just naive, show me a parent who accepts it as part of their everyday language and I'll show you a parent who breathes through their mouth, classes tinned hotdogs as nutrtional, and thinks Jeremy Kyle is educational.

When we tried setting the Parky's hut on fire at Athy Park, the fucker chased us with a shovel and would have knocked shite out of us if he'd caught us.

Rightly so too!!

And if that'd happened today, sadly a fair number of parents would've gone to Parky's threatening him with allsorts because little Kyle is a good lad.

Chanice say Kyle just has a disorder, a learning or attention deficiency.

Smiffs says he's just a nowty cunt who needs a fucking slap.

I think were singing from the same hymn sheet here

would you get your mum done for giving you belt round the ear?

What about if it was his uncle?
