Seems a bit odd they've just called it a part of Manchester like Harpurhey which is only a small suburb.

I accept some parts of Bolton are stone age & 3rd world, but to lump the whole BL postal code in seems a bit daft really.

Obviously, I'll be accused of being stuck up here, but I have to say where I live is a world away from sopme parts of Daubhill or top oth brow.

I've just been to Xercise4Less and I can confirm that the scutter class certainly don't appear to be starving anyway.

that certainly makes for grim reading, but no surprise really. You only need to see how run down certain bits of the town are to know that there is clearly a major "poverty" issue

They won't be starving whilst food is so cheap.....they might be eating the wrong sort of food and die of heart attacks, but they won't starve

Poverty my fat arse. I'm glad you used " ".

There may be relative poverty, there's relative poverty everywhere, but I'm not having people actually are living in real poverty.

It's an over used word.

how is poverty defined?

how is poverty defined?

If your Plasma/LCD TV is far too big for your living room....then you're generally a pauper.

I'd say it's a combination of If your telly is too big, you have a full SKY subscription, you smoke too many fags, you drink too much and you eat too many takeaways.

... y'know the kind of things you shouldn't be able to do if you have no money.

Plus you go everywhere in a Metro taxi.

you also can't speak at a normal volume, you always have to be shouting/shreiking

Wearing Lonsdale 3/4 length shell pants.

in hot weather (blokes only) thinking it's acceptable to walk around town topless/shirtless - you're in Bolton for fucks sake, put some clothes on

Poverty is measured in inverse proportion to the amount of plastic items in your house or dwelling* - fact.

* Or garden or outside area - even more so, in fact.

an old couch or fridge in the front garden as well

It's in these sort of areas that kids show no respect and openly abuse adults. Shouting things such as, "You bald little bastard" and "Oi, Egg Head."

Plus you go everywhere in a Metro taxi.

the main entrance gates at my flat complex were fucked last week, couldnt drive car off the premises

problem being we had our heart set on a carvery meal

metro taxi to and from carvery

what does this make me?

Post-modern ironic?

As a driver or a passenger?

blokes wearing shorts and jumpers with trainers and socks pulled up is this poverty clientèle

I reckon you can make a 'proper' meal for a £1 a head - the fact that many are unable to do this doesn't constitute 'poverty'.

They're selling 2kg sacks of Jeera Basmati Rice at my local fruit and veg shop for £1.99. I'm not sure of what percentage this (£1.99) is of a weekly benefit payment - but I'd wager it's a lot lower than the percentage of the weekly earnings of an average person in the 'developing' world (to buy 2kg of rice).

Let them eat rice!

Edit: What the f*ck am I on about?

or even parts of horwich for that matter

Even without going as low as £1 per head, you can make very tasty food for small amounts of money - I made NB's ChickPea & Chorizo thing last night, it's tasty as fuck and I've made enough for about 4 servings for probably less than a fiver.......although you'll have to forgive me NB, as I went a bit "off piste" and chucked in some celery that was on the turn....I'm crazy like that :D
