Completely out of left field and fuck all to do with this thread but, the missus is a dental nurse with some Italian origin. Eyetie walks into the surgery on Saturday morning. Born in Trieste, moved to South Africa as a nipper and now resides in Perth. Sez to her, 'Northern English accent? Whereabouts?' She responds (and she does this all the time and it drives me fucking mad) 'Near Manchester'. Him, 'I went to Uni in Manchester. Loved going to the football in that area'. Her (assuming) ' Which team - Man United?' Him, 'No. Bolton Wanderers. Love the Reebok and the club. Was never away when I was up there'. It then goes off into an excited gabble including 'I'm from Bolton', 'My husband is Bolton Wanderers daft - even has the club crest tattoo', 'They call him Bolty because he bores all the Aussies to death prattling on about the Wanderers endlessly'....................etc. I thought this was fucking great. A lad with no connection to Bolton, from a foreign country, living in Manchester and choosing us. I don't give a shiny what his motives were (living on this side of Manc, guaranteed a ticket etc.), it made my day when I heard the story. Shows that there is hope.
