The Government are to spend up to £200m on improving facilities for cyclists across the UK.

I'm a bikist, in that I'll cross Bury Road and cycle round the park or up to Harwood through the golf course. I wouldn't cycle on the road for a gold pig!

I nearly took two of the fuckers out yesterday, one was doing a U turn without looking. He'd have heard he if he wasn't listening to an iPod. Second one was coming straight at me with no lights on at 11pm. Daft cunt.

Theyre already spending it.

Cycle route down Darcy lever over burnden viaduct to bury going in as I type.

Alterations to the bury New road and folds road junction.

Are 2 bits being done with boltons share

Frank, have they decided on the route through Darcy yet?

I think so other than chatting to the engineer running the scheme I didnt have much involvement in it. I do know theyve walked through the route with the cycling network bods.

Theyre working on the bit from the town centre to Manny road now.

That stretch of road is utterly fucked on so many levels, good luck to them.

get one down derby street deane road and Blackburn road...

that would be good for a laugh...

Some wankers from a club have just come flying out from the junction at Lucianos onto the main road without even stopping making swerve out the way. Luckily there was nothing coming the other way.

Absolute wankers but I know who's fault it'll be when there's a crash up here. Case law my left eye Lopez.

You should have ploughed into the careless fuckers.

that'd learn 'em.

Has anyone actually ever seen a bikist using the cycle lanes around the Reebok or MossBank Way when they narrowed it down to one lane for the tax dodging feckers ?

Bikes are judged like cars on CO2 output. That's why it's £0.

I had a set to a while ago with one blocking the lane to Horwich from tesco to the beehive. I worded him at the roundabout. The nob said those lanes are not mandatory. Aye but it's mandatory for us to pay for the bastard things. He's no doubt another who will be whining like fuck when he gets run off the road.

Wankers.

They don't whine, they crunch (usually).

It wad narrowed down to one lane due to the number of accidents caused by people chopping and changing lanes on mbw the cycle lanes were a secondary bonus.

theres less accidents now cos everybody is doing 5 miles an hour

shite

Councils are judged by the government on accident reduction, if they can't get people there quickly and safely. Then safely takes priority.

thing is frank, it hardly takes an armful of qualifications to reduce accidents merely by causing congestion

call me old fashioned, but i keep expecting some creative thinking - not just painting white lines and creating congestion

a la the folds road mess thats developing

Not my place to argue it any more so knock yourself out

didn't say it was

i'd distance myself from that shower of shite, too :)

It does seem odd that round Bolton they've tried to turn every wide road into a single lane by either painting white lines or shoving bollards willy nilly.  My commute is through Chorley despite the myriad of roundabouts I couldn't imagine what a fanny-ache it'd be if they made thA6 through the town into 1 lane.

It's not often I see crashes, in fact the only I have ever seen in when some silly old fucker in a wagon rammed my car.  :angry2:

I'll find it more interesting when it gets colder and wetter. Like *normal* what they need is a bike with a roof. Possibly an heater and maybe stabilisers to stop them falling over.

Basically a car then.

I'm all in favour of them. Car lanes.
