I'm not leaving it so late again.Got a 2nd place with Melon which was good, unexpected boost on apple's Jade when i collected from the shop (that or she miscounted, either way i said nothing!).Hoping for more 2nd places tomorrow. jturner Posted March 15, 2017 Share Posted March 15, 2017 A decent day for me, I backed 9 of the 23 horses in the 2.50 and got £150 for 5th place with Scoir Mear.It was a shop bet too. It would have been an extra £125 if Old Guard had finished 6th rather than 7th. Then when i took a £7 arb on Special Tiara at 20-1 I didn't really want the win, but it did so there was a £50 free bet with 365 (which didn't win). I have placed 2 * £50 bets on tonights football to show some willing.Im not going to push my luck and try for the extra place in the 5.30 with them. Had laid the win last night but left it til this morning to lay the place for a small profit. I was borderline letting it ride but as I had a shit day yesterday too I laid it. jturner Posted March 15, 2017 Share Posted March 15, 2017 Maybe just have a crack at getting horses covered in the extra place race (2.10) and take the guaranteed cash from sky/bet 365 on the first race.When you've backed getting on for half the field its easier to hit 5th place than it is to get the other refunds and the reward is bigger. I didn't work it out exactly id guess it was about a £25 loss to to get 9 horses covered today for £125 - £150 pay outs if one finished 5th and sky/coral/paddy were also paying 6th.I got 5th and 6th in last years Grand National, sometimes its your lucky day.As it turned out i got a 2nd place refund with the Paddy horse for £20 as well today and it was easy enough to make the £25 back arbing using the EWS software.I see someone got banned from bet 365 for backing Special Tiara for £100 each way. Odds aren't too bad. 40 odd horses at an average of £25 a pop and I'm finding qual losses over the day just eat into the guaranteed cash. Maybe I'm not holding out for decent matches. Who knows... By Friday I might be able to afford a bottle of Malbec to drown my sorrows! Gonna crack on with extra places tomorrow morning and leave 2nd place matches til before the race. No extra places, no BOG, but crucially up with the best price-wise and they will lay any bet to at least £500 liability, no restricting accounts etc. An old style bookie, if you will. When i went in first thing the odds were so poor there was nothing to back and i didn't notice the place terms. Ive just been back in after 11 for the BOGs but both races are saying 4 places only.
