October 24, 201312 yr If I ever get pulled for that again I will try my bestest to get out of it. It's not a privilege, it's a bastard ball ache. I must admit, I very nearly cracked mentally. It's the waiting and being locked in a room, it's not good for the mentally hardest person in the world. Or am I a big wooly woofter? Edited October 24, 201312 yr by Breightmet Boy
October 24, 201312 yr I've only done it once. I got a "nonce" case that lasted for two weeks. It was most grim, I wouldn't want to do that again
October 24, 201312 yr I thought there was a foolproof way out of jury service...Seems not, on the plus side the bloke in question is now a staff writer for the publication which the article below appears in. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2200948/Juror-tells-judge-try-cases-extreme-views.html
October 24, 201312 yr To prosecute that case would be a ridiculous waste of time and money. How could you prove, beyond reasonable doubt, that he hasnt held those beliefs for all of his adult life.

He also stated in the letter he wouldn't pay any attention to the case and simply vote with the majority - this is contempt of court beyond all reasonable doubt. I think. October 24, 201312 yr Author Not joking, whoever gets it has my wholehearted sympathy, it's horrendous. Very very close to cracking
October 24, 201312 yr If you're not on the Electoral Roll then you won't get called (amongst other things). For future reference.
October 24, 201312 yr Did mine few months back for some petty thief robbing stuff from high street shops, turns out he only stole like 3 pounds worth of sweets or something daft, 2 weeks off mind. Not doing it again mind
October 24, 201312 yr Nor me. Different reasons to you miscreants though Miscreant? I'll take that as a compliment.
October 24, 201312 yr If you're not on the Electoral Roll then you won't get called (amongst other things). For future reference. Not so. I'm not on and have done two lots; one day Coroner's Court and one fortnight at Crown.
October 24, 201312 yr Miscreant? I'll take that as a compliment. I wasn't sure whether to call thi both that or ne'erdowells
October 24, 201312 yr My Coroner one was an Asian solicitor who was caught with his hand in the legal aid tin to the tune of £35k. Fell under the wheels of a HGV on M61 later that afternoon changing a wheel without a puncture. Crown was a rape trial that lasted 10 days.
October 24, 201312 yr Not so. I'm not on and have done two lots; one day Coroner's Court and one fortnight at Crown.Appears I'm back in again then.
October 24, 201312 yr Aren't there two electoral roles? One for who can vote or do Jury Service and one for public use?
October 24, 201312 yr Not so. I'm not on and have done two lots; one day Coroner's Court and one fortnight at Crown. It used to be just electoral rolls, I belive nowadays DVLA records are also used.
October 24, 201312 yr Are you (MickyD) still at the same address that at one time you were on the Electoral Roll? I'm sure the Jury Selection is based on this, therefore (although I might be wrong) if you move and don't register to vote it's unlikely you'll be called.
