Carry a firearm, wear baggy jeans & a hoody, bit of gravy browning and you could change your lifestyle & be a gangsta

Turn it into a positive  :D

P.S. The word 'prolapse' always sounds painful so best of luck x

What are they actually going to do?

  • Author

It's called a microdisectomy. They make an incision in my lower back and cut back the disc that is compressing the nerve. The disc is still out from the spine but it's not pressing on the nerve anymore. This should allow me to walk properly and will hopefully heal over time. The nerve has been compressed for 4 months now so it should relieve it and allow it to settle down.

Have you got a donor card?

  • Author

No donor card, but am making sure my wife has all my life insurance details. Not sure people would want my battered lungs and liver.

Should be reet in 2 or 3 weeks at a complete guess. I had a spinal fusion years ago and had a full body cast on for 7 months which put a crimp on my year haha.

I'm looking at 4 weeks to be fighting fit. Although the back could give me a bit of grief for the rest of my life. So be it. As long as I can walk properly that will do.

it was a piss take regarding the other thread,

good luck to you sir,

3 of my vertebrae are fucked and touching the spinal cord.

I take it you are in a lot of pain in your back and legs Traf?

Hope it goes well.

Every sympathy pal.

Girl friends suffering with hers at the moment.

Waiting for a scan.

My ex had a prolapse disc op, she had it shaved down to stop it pressing on nerves and a week later she was at a football match abroad fit as a fiddle. She was demolishing Solpadol pain relief tablets for fun a week earlier. You'll be reet :)

I've had it done, took a few weeks to fully recover but the pain relief from sciatica is well worth it. My back's still knackered but no leg pains. Suppose I'm lucky after falling off a three storey building.

Some days, the pain is on a par with a nagging headache.

Other days, I can hardly move without wanting to cry.

It's the fact that I can't walk without limping that's doing my head in. When it was at its peak I couldn't get off the floor. Have to stop taking my tablets in prep for the operation. Starting to get very niggly

Has the doc said what your options are?

No surgery, because of the obvious dangers.

Either daily pain killers, but I said no, I'd rather self-medicate as and when required.

Going to have some physio to see if that helps, otherwise it'll be 3-monthly pain management via injection.

Or death of course. :D

So you're fucked then!? :D

Will physio help when it isn't a muscular problem, I don't have a clue BTW, just wondered?

I am supposedly 95% certain to get arthritis in my spine due to my scoliosis and surgery, not something I am looking forward to that's for sure.

I get pain through the muscle too, so they think it might help.

In for a penny, in for a pound / clutching at straws / throw enough shit at a wall, some will stick

Choose your own metaphor, mate, no fucker seems to know what to do! :D

I had the same op about 10 years ago. Was eating steak n chip a few hours after the op, and was up and walking shortly after. Instant relief and never had a problem since.

Good luck mate.

had mine done 15 years ago...hardly any trouble since...you have to know your limits from now on.

That must be 5 pint of Guinness a day......
