Should I Stay Or Should I Go? . . .

Bournemouth at home next week!?

Not a season ticket holder, been to every home game so far, BUT caught between, do I stay away in protest at what's going on OR support the club I've supported for the last 40 odd years?

Half of me says stand up and be counted OR  fcuk it till Dougie fooks off?

So sad to see the demise of our club  :(

Dougie v BWFC

Quote on GMR as saying he's an Apprentice Manager! why us though?

  • I think you should stay away in protest. I'm sure it will gain international recognition, like that monk who set himself on fire.   You might even end up on the front cover of a Rage Against the Ma

  • I'll be there, as regular as clockwork for 50 odd years, not expecting owt, not getting owt but fucking aggravated .   What I would like to know is the real state of the club, there is a stench eman

Really? Never? Suggest that you revisit your facts pal. I could very easily point out at least two home attendances close to 40,000 in the early Seventies and other 30,000+ ones too.

We have never needed the moaners - they really are better off staying at home for every fuckers sake.

Yeah, Bolty, but those big crowds included all the people who 'moan' when the bad times come around. They wouldn't have been so big otherwise.

Clubs like ours will always have good times and bad times - it's what's happened during all my years being a White. I contend that the bad times don't have to be so spinelessly cr*p though.

Yes Pal (!), I remember the big gates but my point was lost once again in that for long periods we had low crowds and I never missed a game back then. Seems thet we had more glory hunting fans back then if we went from 30,000 to 1,500.

The difference now is that there are many other distractions on a Saturday and the urge to cure the boredom factor by going to support a team who doesnt seem to know what it wants to be isnt there for me. Anyone who has been to the ground recently must have felt the lack of any atmosphere and feeling of any optimism

Is it down solely to me if after over 40yrs of support that I cant bring myself to pay out good money to see the latest tenants of the club I love appear to not give a shit. I think not.

Suppose its easy to judge via the web though, but its how I feel.

See I don't agree with that. From speaking to many of you old duffers there has always been players who couldn't give a shit

Me neither. If the players were giving it 100% back in the 80's, then they could have fooled me.

I can remember being at a game against Bristol City not sure what year 80's I would guess,  I think we lost 4-0, the fans were singing "only one player playing" so I guess its nothing new (due to my getting older and my memory fading, both the score and team could be wrong)

Oi pal  ;)

I will agree that the matchday experience at the Reebok wouldn't even register as a pale shadow of a day out at Burnden. Wait for it - they'll all be along in a minute to tell me I am living in the past (flute intro just started in my head).

Living down here, obviously my Reebok experiences only number in the tens but enough to conclude it's a soulless concrete bowl. Hundreds of Burnden experiences '64-'88. Some shit; plenty sensational; always memorable. Lucky enough to walk around the Burnden touchline with Nat the day before a 2-2 draw with Oldham on one of my visits. Even with no crowd in the hairs stood up on the back of my neck. History. The place reeked of it.

All opposition fans I know down here - plenty of them - speak of the 'intimidating place' that was Burnden. We fooked up royally moving out of Bolton centre, that is for sure and certain.

They pasted us again at Wembley a month later. Did they not try in the biggest game most of them would ever play either?

More recently ..but still before the imbecile Coyle...there were questions about the players' commitment on Black Sunday & at the relegation at Chelsea.

Spanked 6 nil on Black Sunday with a hostile atmosphere (at least to start with) and not one Bolton player booked

They beat us 4-0 in the last home league game of the 1985/86 season, then beat us 3-0 at Wembley a month later.

The 4-1 defeat the following season was at Ashton Gate. The 4-1 home defeat was in the March of the 84/85 season.

For those who think times are tough now, that last result was right in the middle of a nine-game run than gleaned just three goals and a single point (and included a 4-0 defeat by Bournemouth).
