February 13, 201412 yr Anybody know anyone that does UPVC doors?? If not, any idea on prices for door and frame???
February 13, 201412 yr Composite doors are better. Timber in the centre with a wood effect plastic over the top (tgey look much better than it sounds). They come in all colours and are really secure. We use Vista but they supply in bulk. If you google it you'll get some ideas.

February 13, 201412 yr Yes the ones we use have different fire ratings depending on where they are to be installed. They are usually a sealed unit (frame and door) meaning good insulation properties.
February 13, 201412 yr Anybody know anyone that does UPVC doors?? If not, any idea on prices for door and frame???Depends if you want white or brownBrown being the more expensive and is it front or back door with a fan light
February 13, 201412 yr Author Thanks for all the advice so far....... The door is not a front door, it is a back/side door so does not need to be particularly flash or owt....
February 13, 201412 yr you still want it to be solid though if you can only afford pvc, then wait and save up for a composite. its worth it
February 14, 201412 yr Like people are saying if its your front door than Composite Door. I got mine from Door Stop http://www.door-stop.co.uk/ and fitted myself but I'm in the game, software not a fitter or owt for a standard UPVC door for the back or side I'd try WindowPlas near TA with rough sizes of your opening to get a price, they may be able to recommend a fitter if you aren't fitting yourself. If only you knew the mark-ups on UPVC windows and doors, shocking. Edited February 14, 201412 yr by C86
February 14, 201412 yr Any recommendations for where to go for replacing blown units? Mother Dee has several need replacing.
February 14, 201412 yr Any recommendations for where to go for replacing blown units? Mother Dee has several need replacing. St Georges Glass, Hailliwell Road offer a good service. http://www.stgeorgeglass.co.uk/ I get mine direct from the manufacturers but go through one of my customers who adds to there order. Again the mark-ups are shocking.
February 14, 201412 yr As an addition Housemartin Windows in Radcliffe always did plenty upvc fitting for me when I was at my last place.
February 14, 201412 yr Ian at St George's is good and reliable, not cheapest but reliable Top lad Ian, like you say can get it cheaper but good service IMO.
February 14, 201412 yr Got a composite on main door - ok but make sure that it is installed properly, they can even fuck up a unit. Oh and change the lock with something bump and pick proof. The standard locks they come with cost around a fiver on E Bay. You can get something much better for around £ 20 and easy to replace as well.
