Moderators Zico Posted May 20, 2014 Moderators Share Posted May 20, 2014 If we're saying alive today, at what point are we adding them up to? Yesterday? If so, probably not true
birch-chorley
If you knew exactly the number of humans alive right now then it is greater than the total number of all humans that have ever died Factamundo my friend
Guest
If you knew exactly the number of humans alive right now then it is greater than the total number of all humans that have ever died Factamundo my friend This means that we are nowhere near close to having more alive than dead. In fact, there are 15 dead people for every person living. We surpassed seven billion dead way back between 8000BC and AD1. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-16870579

birch-chorley
Interesting read Makes sense I always thought it must be right as to be right every human alive would only have had to had on average 2+ children grow up and reproduce for it to be true which I didn't think was far fetched And the fact that a few generations are alive today too However if 1b were alive 200 yrars a go it must be shite

birch-chorley
It's a bit chicken and egg though that graph BD I suppose If the global population was smaller then there would be less demand for oil I wonder what that graph would look like for wheat production etc

The thrust is that the world population growth was enabled by the incrteased oil production; places became sustainable to develop/farm with energy that otherwise wouldn't have. There are some good reads

There are some good reads Oil has without doubt been the driver of the last 100 years, pretty much everything can be traced back to Oil and its increased production. I watched a Good doc about it ages ago, its crazy how much of an influence it has been.
