Despite the original charity link, why would a bolton lad buy them, or is this a serious woooosh moment / money making ploy? I’d personally rather go barefoot covered in dog shit than own anythin

Very dear time coming up on the trainer front. I want the Topangas as I always love a brown trainer, wasn't instantly taken with the Ardwicks but seen some more photos of them now and like them. I really doubt Id get a pair of them though, Im not feeling committed enough to get myself a pair, itll be hard work.

What do you make of the Bern reissue Horwich? Shape looks a bit wrong to me but Ill wait till I see them in the flesh suede.

What size are people? On the of chance I get in the queue and they haven't got 10s?

The Ardwicks would be going in the cupboard for sale at a later stage.

Im 11 or 12 depending on the trainer. More chance of nailing snot to a wall than getting hold of some of them!

Dunno, for sale in the shop first, just get down early?

I'm going to head down there for the exhibition but I know a few that'll be there all night outside. Maybe just a case of getting the Ardwicks in any size I can and just use them as an investment

Fashion not passion

Preview pics of next year's Cancun and Jamaica releases look good too!

Anyone off here heading down to the exhibition tomorrow??

Anyone off here heading down to the exhibition tomorrow??

Few lads I know heading down Sunday I think mate.

Possibly Baz Cowdrill off here...trainer geek :-)

Ill be going Sunday, moving into new place Saturday so not going to get chance.

Resigned myself to not getting the Ardwick, going to go all out to try for some Topangas online though at midnight Saturday morning

Sorry, but I can't help it any longer, someone has to break rank - apologies if this reads like I'm the bloke below, I am him (sometimes), I'm not the real life one from the match tho' btw, anyway...

To anyone going, if there's anyone from adidas there, ask them why, as recently as nine or ten years ago, when I (or you) led a more active life, thus exposing their footwear to more adverse conditions, said footwear stayed relatively intact for a good period of time, whereas now, where one leads a more sedentary life and are more apt to jump puddles than march through them, their footwear seems to fall to pieces and/or look like shit within a few weeks

Is there money to be made from these new Spezials?

Got those Trimm Stars from Size. Someone paid 97quid for a pair of them on ebay.

Not mine btw. Was just seeing what they were going for.

Disposable society.

It is, and it's fucking shit...

I'm going to make a firm that makes stuff that lasts forever.

It'll be a growth industry once folk en masse finally twig they're being sold products with design flaws left in and inferior materials used on purpose.

It's my number one pet hate, planned obsolescence, stuff designed to fail, stuff that then gets landfilled, but is perfectly good apart from one (non-repairable) flaw that could be corrected in design/manufacture, or a part that fails and is integrated so can't be replaced.

They bank on people thinking ''Oh well, I only paid £x for it, I'll get another one...''

It's bollocks.

A welsh bloke called Tim was showing me his new work boots in the Squirrel one teatime.

He said "they're bloody belters these, will last you a lifetime....these a my 3rd pair already"

I reckon any of the releases this weekend will be worth more than youve paid.

The ardwicks will be worth loads more, but they are gonna be a ballache to get 1/500 s

Bollocks to buying some trainers for £70 to sell them for £90. You pay eBay and PayPal fees and the cost of getting to the post office and you are making under a tenner for your time. Fuck that!

Unless you've 10 pairs...

Supply and demand though, put 10 pairs on eBay at the same time and you won't get top dollar.

It is, and it's fucking shit...

You'll become a marked man, Youri.

Have you ever seen "The Man in the White Suit" with Alec Guiness?

I started to watch it once, but the DVD player conked ten minutes in.

Probably a fuse inside, but I couldn't be arsed checking, slung it in the bin instead, I'll get a new one.

(I have read the synopsis of the film tho'.)

Trigger's brush...

This brings to mind another thing...

We in t'north are a resourceful lot, appropriating specialist wear; workwear, yachting gear, golf clothes, motorbike stuff, fishing, tennis, hiking gear etc. and wearing it for everyday use, the problem is the manufacturers twig this is happening and start producing shit 'fashion' items...

When this happens the main reason it was appropriated in the first place, it's durability, gets sidelined - thus they become shit.

I bought a pair of Caterpillar boots around 1993, Made in America and meant for work, these days they may look fucked but they're still just about wearable...

A pair bought today would probably last a year.

Peter Storm, Burberry, Berghaus, Belstaff, Henri Lloyd, Helly Hansen, Fred Perry...the list could go on, you name it, once it starts being produced for 'fashion' purposes it goes turd quality-wise.

adidas is no longer the brand it once was, they can bring out all the 'colorways' and re-issues they like, when a pair of Nizza lasted me less than six months (being rotated too, not constant wear) - that's when I was finished with them as a brand.
