Thornleigh College also carries some of the blame. I had heard both of them.  You see, you can't beat a good grammar school education.

When are we starting the apostrophe war?

Whenever you are ready V. As is most often the case, you are spot on with the other bit.

So that's BCGS, Thornleigh and Bolton School because I know both.

Almost non existent H. Flat as a fluke.

Certain folk have got hold of the wrong end of the stick but in one particular case, he always does.

Bolton County Grammar - can't beat it - or its former pupils :)

There speaketh a wise man  ;)

I've heard of lithe, I think it's from when I worked at BRI and its used as a double barrel name for a ENT/Orthopaedic instrument in theatre. Sisco Lithe or summat like that, I've just tried googling it but no joy

Bolty learned at BCGS where we had quite a few lithe and lissom young ladies.

They were definitely outnumbered by the munters though.

Right bolty , when did you darken the doors of BCGS ?

I was ensconced there 1970 / 1975.

And was surrounded by various nubile bints .

And by a very sadistic geography teacher.

Not to mention a very very dodgy biology teacher.

80-85 for me. Many a good looking girl, but a couple of the teachers had great top bollocks

But he was a great p.e. teacher though

Sadistic geography teacher very tall with glasses by any chance.

There was a very sadistic P.E. teacher who was named after Feb 14th

65-70. Attended the last year on Great Moor Street and moved up Breightmet into the sparking new place which later merged with the rough house next door to become the Withins.

Geography teacher wasn't called Townsend by any chance?  He was a fucking sadist and a dead shot with the chalkboard duster (the cunt).

Drew - that man also played for Horwich RMI!  He was a nowty git but his alter ego (Miss Winterbottom) mah have been flat chested but everything else about her was top drawer. I could have watched her trampoline demonstration for hours in that little white pleated tennis skirt and matching knickers. Used to make us all stand around the edge holding the bar whilst she demonstrated somersaults etc. It wasn't the only fucking bar around, I can tell you!

Sure she only did it to see us all walking three legged.

78 - 83 for this kid. Paddy Roberts was at the helm. It was alright till we merged with next door when I was in the 5th year.

He caned me for 'skinhead violence' Wackers. I really did believe him to be a nasty cunt.

Townshend was a right nasty bastard.

Any excuse for hitting his victims with a slipper . Always done behind closed doors.

Would love to have come across him out of school when I was in my twentys..

Nasty bully who needed twatting.

Those are all fairly basic words, and I went to Smithills Secondary which is hardly Eton.

Midden a word my Dad uses a fair bit.

As for ginnel, my other half states we're all wrong and it's a vennel. Being from the North East though she is obviously mistaken.

Vennel is used in the NE & Scotland and derives from venelle, a French word for a small street or mews

Yes, I've been told. On numerous occasions. She's still not saying it right though!

77 - 83 for me - left half way through my 6th form to go to Smithills so never got to use the common room - gutted.

Got some great memories.

I remember getting off a detention because I was playing cricket at the weekend against the deputy head Mr Hutchinson when he playe for social circle.

Paddy was ace - old school. Bob dearden was our PE teacher and was briliant.

Loads of proper Psycho teachers though like Moizer, Altham, Townsend, Paine, that massive maths teacher with the beard, Mr German (who was an extra in Kes) and thinny and fatty inces. Not to mention the 'Bogus Doctor'

Moizer was our form teacher in the 5th year and during 'charity week' got the 6th formers to attack the whole class in registration with flour and eggs. Absolute carnage - proper kicked off.

Wish I could go back - schooldays are the best times of your life!!

Bobby Dearden, hero. Cricket on the telly in history class

He was also a DMB too. I despised the man from the first day I met him and he told us who he followed. Used to like to shovel shit on the Whites too. Like you, I would have love to have met the fucker after I'd left, the lanky, greasy haired, four eyed cunt.
