Mounts Kipper Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 A fit Wheater is better than Dervite in my opinion but no doubt Dervite is on a 1/4 of what Wheater is so would be good to get rid of Wheater and use that wage elsewhere (preferably on a striker) Quote
Casino Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 anyway, its a moot point without 12 months football under his belt, nobody is going to take on his wages Quote
Anderson Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 anyway, its a moot point without 12 months football under his belt, nobody is going to take on his wages True, I'd have Spearing out the door though, stunting Vela's development and taking a massive wedge. I do like him just don't think we need him. Quote
Casino Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 when freedman was here, he got blamed for vela not playing now its spearings fault even though hes not in the team come on maybe vela isn't much good you are right though that 2 of our highest earners being out of the team isn't good, but as we know, the higher the wage, the trickier to shift Quote
Zico Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 fair enough but im not sure taylor/finney with prince fills me with any confidence still think lennon would start wheater whenever dervite is unavailable that still makes him 3rd choice and he's never fit and gets paid relatively loads lennon would almost certainly move him on if someone would take him, which they won't, which puts him firmly in the deadwood category Quote

Casino Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 lennon recently said 'vela is playing within himself' this season is 2 months old, so hes either not getting the message, can't be arsed or he is giving it his all and hes not yet good enough Quote
gonzo Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 I've said before on here but vela seems to have attitude issues. I know people close to him and even they say he's a cocky fucker with a massive chip on his shoulder. He had a huge barney with Douglas and was subsequently banished to the stiffs a long with others who backed him. Quote
Anderson Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 (edited) Fair enough if true, I've met him a couple of times and he seemed quite quiet and humble but admittedly wasn't long enough to really know Edited September 30, 2015 by Anderson Quote

Casino Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 dunno, you'd need to ask the man i think it was an answer he gave at the recent q and a at the ground Quote
Rizlar Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 If Lennon says he's playing within in himself that says it all for me he needs to give more in training if Lennon is going to play him! Quote
jules_darby Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 Vela Playing within himself, quite likely because he is shy and lacks confidence is what I heard. Which can be construed as being aloof. Might not be right but that's what I heard Wheater worries me. He had a torrid time for the first half an hour on Saturday. he turns like a cruise ship, he constantly tugs shirts and is constantly a card/penalty waiting to happen and relies all to often on a last gasp tackle to save a previous error / slowness / bad positioning. He's also rarely fit for long periods. That said, let's put Saturday down to a lack of "match fitness" and see how he gets on with more matches I get the feeling he won't be first choice but I hope he proves me wrong and becomes it Quote
