Most Ridiculous Transport Ideas

Got a couple of three mates going to Wimbledon on Saturday., (not mentioning any names T-Shape). They decided as a "money-saving" exercise  to get the National Express and now have to be in Manchester for 5amish for a five hour bus journey to the capital, before getting on the tube. Better still, after booking the journey, had second thoughts on the journey home times involved and decided to book trains for a return journey, so with the travel card will have paid well over the £42.50 for Saturday speacials on a train...

Got to admire the commitment, but got me thinking of anyone else had equally strange friends, who have crackpot travel ideas..

Millwall I think.

It's not the money as such, problem is living in the north west options are limited

You can't fly anywhere everyday of the week

If your based in the South East your travel options are much better

At the time we were in Europe you could get a return flight to Heathrow or Gatwick for about £50 so you had all the options in the south east.

I only did Plovdiv, Marseille, Munich and Madrid and other than Plovdiv flew into the city for all of them. My only point was the journey might not have been direct (Madrid flew to Denmark from Leeds and then into Madrid and came back via Barcelona) seemed a lot easier than flying to somewhere miles away and then vetting train, taxi, bus etc.

Skyscanner was brilliant for non direct fares

Non direct flights are as much fucking about as say a drive to Bristol airport for a direct flight

Depending on how long your lay over is of course

Yeah you find a bar and have a beer.

Only problem I had was Marsielle I think at Gatwick, there was a bookies as well, cost me more than the flights.

raith rovers

Raith is an old name for an area not a town or village. Somewhat analogous to Rossendale.

or Turton

Transport yesterday........the Virgin train to London was great as usual, the public transport in London -trains, tube & bus- were great, the Virgin train back was great.....& then we had the usual fucking ordeal of getting back from Piccadilly to Bolton with only one train an hour & as usual it was delayed. By the time it turned up there were millions waiting for it & as usual it was like travelling at rush hour in Calcutta.

After the disruption for most of last year, we were supposed to be getting a better service but all the trains around Bolton seem to be getting worse & worse.
