Smith simply wasn't interested in playing risky strokes and stuck to own comfort zone. But for the very good run out achieved by Lyon, Vince could easily have gone on to a century plus.

Could easily have bottled with all that pressure. Round 1 and the psychological advantage to the Aussies . . .
November 28, 20178 yr Smith is one ugly looking player, but looks like its impossible to get him out at times. Looked like he had so much time to play the ball. Scary that we are going to need to get him out 8 times over the next four tests! We were in the game for 3 days. Positives being the new lads got runs, not huge scores but runs none the less. If Root and Cook can go on and get the tons we all know they are capable of then we have a chance of setting big totals. Main concern is, I don't think we can take 20 wickets. Maybe the day night er will be different, think we simply have to win this match. Also, although he is a bit of a bastard, didn't realise how good that Lyon is.
