Went this time last year for first time; was about -8 bloody freezing!

You can round most of the sites off in an afternoon, reishtag building, Brandenburg gate and memorial of the Jews are all within a stones throw then checkpoint Charlie was a 5 minute walk. There’s a place called museum island which has about 5 and it’s on the river if museums are your thing.

We went to Olympic stadium where hertha play, they were away that weekend so just did the tour instead on the last day to kill some time.

Peter Pan burger restaurant was quality if you into burgers, plenty of steakhouses and restaurants in Alexanderplatz (main square). The u-banh is so easy to use and cheap but a lot of the stuff in the middle is walkable.

Only thing we found was that there was a main area for boozing, all spread out. Ended up in a 24 hour nightclub or hackershan(?) market roll early ours called am to pm, that was an experience.

Class city would deffo return.

It takes my breath away...

Ended up there as well. Sat outside at daft o’clock and the waitress happily bringing drinks out to us, but the bouncers wouldn’t let us inside for a slash, madness. Hackescher Markt.

Worth researching hotels on the eastern side that are close to the 24 hour tram line (only certain lines are 24 hours), makes things much easier. Derag Livinghotel Königin Luise was a 4 star hotel that was ridiculously cheap. In a residential area about 10 minutes walk from the tram (24 hours) which in turn was about a 15-20 minute ride from Alexanderplatz. Also stayed at the Landsberger Allee Holiday Inn which was decent enough.

Incredible place. One place I thought the sites were interesting. Great place to get smashed as well. I think it's the best city I've been too

Definitely on my to do list. Tempting for my a weekend piss up for my 40th

thinking of doing a long weekend with the daughter she loves her history

My mate went and said the place took his breath away

Cheers. Useful to know that about the main sights being so close together

fwiw for anyone thinking of going......

To see the historical sights do any of the many hop-on-hop-off bus tours - brilliant way of seeing everything and getting a commentary on your headphones - about £15. You can do the lot easily in one day. Absolute must is the "Topography of Terror" which is a museum built on the site of the old Nazi secret police headquarters - it's seriously mind-blowing when you actually consider how the Germans have faced up to their past

Buy a day-ticket for travel - S-Bahn, U-Bahn, buses are ace

Eating/drinking found not as easy as expected. OK if you wanted to stay in a particular area but not so good if you wanted to go on a bit of a bar crawl. Maybe due to lack of knowledge though

Oh..........and all the shops are shut on Sundays....wtf??

I did the Topography of Terror in 2006, pretty sure we had a thread on it years ago. Definitely a must do for anyone going to Berlin.
