Anyways - the St George's Cross:  A symbol of colonialism, imperialism, crusade and far right oppression . . . or just a flag that a lot of folk take pride in?

 

A flags a flag to me but listening to the two arguments the fella at the front is the one who has old-fashioned views and clings to the past, with a little prejudice thrown in for good measure.  Lad with the flag is quite articulate and makes a good case.

 

It's a shame that some folk can't identify with a flag (whatever that means) or see it in such a negative light but minorities should never be ruling majorities in a democracy.

Not sure what about it wouldn't be allowed at other schools, as long as the kids in the video aren't subject to safeguarding.

 

Not that it wouldn't be allowed but in a majority Muslim school (of which there are many) it would take a brave Head to do something like that.

 

I can think of at least two schools in Bristol where I know they wouldn't dare and parents would complain

I worked in an abattoir doing some building work in the late 70s, the slaughter men only used the correct methods when the inspectors came round. Once a week a Muslim prayed over lambs getting slaughtered, they all got chucked on the same pile with or without halal certification.

I left in '88 mate. Even then there was a school in Bratfut who had 70% islamic student population who insisted that, to save money, there should no longer be a non Halal food counter and the indigenous kids should eat Halal.

 

Meat is just meat as we all know but there's a principal here. Don't bring your fucking backward practices with you.
