Ordered some, optician reckoned it was the way to go.

Anyone wear them, and how easy was it to get used to them?

Yes

Fine after a day or two

You're not doing the 'brexit voters are all old' myth any favours :)

Kinell. Mick was saying that faceache group of 35+ was targeted.

If 35 or over is old, we're all fucked.

And short-sighted?

Take a bit of getting use to, but persevere and you’ll be fine.

Should I wear them around the house a bit before driving then?

Or is that over cautious?

Yes, for a bit

I wear them.

Driving is fine. I struggle a bit with closer up stuff. Bit of a pain if you are watching telly and move around and lie on the setee as focus changes cos of the angle but better than fucking about with 2 pairs of glasses.

How do they work then? and what's the advantage over bifocals? I need 3.0's for reading and 1.25's for distance - so having 2 pairs is a bit of a pain in the arse like Ani said.

Takes a while but better than switching glasses or peering over the top of them

How many years have you been using tampons?

Mrs got some a while back and it's taken her ages to get used to them, hence I keep putting it off.  I can't carry on for much longer though, constantly lifting them up or peering over the top of em like Larry Grayson.

Got used to them from day one tbh. Had readers for a few years first but driving at night became an issue. All the dials and buttons in the car were blurry. Then gradually the road signs were getting harder to read. Varifocals solved both issues straight away

That's exactly what I told the optician. Sounds like the right solution.

Surely these subjects should be covered on the "cruising holidays" thread
