Liverpool

I'm there for three days at a conference. It will be dull, as its full of museum folk, and whilst I love what they do, Glastonbury it ain't.

It's at the exhibition centre on the front, I've not been to Liverpool for a few years, anywhere decent round there I can escape to of an evening for a quiet pint and avoid having to laugh at antiquity puns I don't understand?

Otherwise it's self-abuse in the Jury's Inn.

Did they ask if you’d been before like eating there is off the charts?

I think they did actually, not that I paid any attention, as my colleague was dealing with getting us a table. We were staying at the Ricoh Arena for an exhibition, and when we went back to the bar afterwards, we wished we'd eaten there as the food did look a lot better

They asked me on Monday, I just shrugged my shoulders and said it wasn't the first cafe I'd been to.

Love a bit of scummer food, but that's what it is. It's not pretending to be anything else.

But don't be putting Mexicana out and calling it a cheese board though.

Wetherspoons to food is what Oasis are to music, it's all the same and you know what you are getting, and it's all pretty bland.

Judgy judgy...

I'm quite happy that the balance of eating a panini in a chain pub and calling out the government for being money grabbing twats still puts me in credit.

😁

I like a chain pub serving cheap generic food as much as the next man, but any place other than Spoons.

Give me a year and if my business does ok, I will then be able to afford to have more morals.

We're all hypocrites, just some of us know what a decent bit of cheese is.

You call my taste in music but listen to cannibal corpse

Calls out blondies cheese selection, eats Wetherspoons BY CHOICE, as well as black peas and lobby.

Bet the only Grease you’ve seen is on your 12” plate In Wetherspoons

Now, you keep going back to Cannibal Corpse. Whatever your thoughts on the music, they were innovators of their form. Even if you don't like it, that has to be respected.

I don't mind people doing new things, pushing boundaries. But its generic boaring, middle of the road shite like early 2000 indie that needs culling.

And yes, Balck Peas and (not lobby) Tater Pie are traditional dishes which are noce at a certain time of year.

Food like 'hot cheeses' are what those who don't know serve thinking its a bit special.

I'm not being foodist, I'm being classist. IE they don't know any better, bless them.

I certainly haven't seen the musical.

Unless they were paying me, in which case - I'm its biggest fan.

Innovators of their form😂, but that’s not really saying much though.
A band with a song called Entrails ripped from a virgins cunt don’t need to be respected they need to be out to pasture.

The indie bands are who I listened to and saw live in the 2000s, were indie pop music, they got you dancing, singing, regular lads from similar backgrounds, it was lairy lout lad music, it was the scene when I discovered beer, and narcotics, trying to finger every lass that moved. Beer soaked adidas, living for the weekend and only the weekend.

It was the soundtrack to my early adulthood. The Enemy were a small band who played a part in that, saw them live and I had a top time, they aren’t Lennon & McCartney but I didn’t want to be, they aren’t anywhere near my favourite artists they were part of that scene that I loved

I’m not after my favourite artists to win the Pulitzer (Except Kendrick Lamar😁

Music to me is like when a certain smell takes you back to a memory, it sets off that trigger or emotion, and they were some of the best days of my life.

Not bad write up for a lout eh

Poor you, you just didn't know any better. I get it.

I think what you've written shows you have an intrinsic love of what you knew when you were younger. Nothing wrong with that, but its not really an arguement for their inclusion into the musical pantheon of greats. You were just unlucky to be growing up when you were.

To dismiss a musical form because you don't like it though. CC and others of their ilk were a form of finality to music instelf, it was more than just the music, it was the the endgame of how far can you push the boundaries of extreme music.

In the same way that Serialism was about form, and adherance to that, not melody. You don't stick on Schoenberg every morning to get you to work, but as a study taht realted to other artitsic and political movements its priceless in a way that another really derivitive indie band isn't.

Its like comparing your summer book read (perfect for the fleeting moment of good fun and swtiching off) to The Tenant of Wildfell Hall.

Nandos is shit.

Deformed chickens soaked in vinegar with some chilli powder and sugar.

It's McDonalds with knives and forks.

Sagres is the only redeeming feature

Red pepper dip with Pitta bread, bastards stopped doing it though. Was like crack to me.

Nandos is OK, that's it. Still better than fucking Spoons though...

I abdicate my "Most Annoying Cunt on Wanderersways" belt to @Not in Crawley. I had a good run, but even I can't compete at his level any more.

p.s the level of detail i went to in editting that image (albeit crude and rushed) says a lot about me.

But nandos is pricey for what it is.

Anyway, had brekkie in a Spoons, grabbed lunch in one and now meeting my uncle in one at Kings Cross.
