Never been chucked out or arrested. Once got chased out of Stamford Bridge by stewards. But I've watched us from the home end at Blackpool, Blackburn, Preston, Burnley Tranmere, Charlton, Watford, Stoke and Hull. Most of those in the 70s or earlier 80s although Charlton was in the season we first qualified for Europe and Watford was in the late 90s. 

Went in the home end at Blackpool a couple of times, once was the Xmas game in mid 80s when we returned there after several seasons of no fixtures against them. This was the day our lot invaded the Kop because the home end they'd given us down the side was never going to be big enough. I wish I'd been there in the 1977 Christmas game when there was 25,000 on at Bloomfield and half of them were Bolton fans. I've heard tales about that day from both sets of fans over the years. Blackpool fans of a certain age still talk with a begrudging reverence about that particular invasion. "Bastards were everywhere" is a phrase I seem to recall coming from their sour mouths.

70's and 80's a different time and era . Hillsborough and The Bradford changed the football stadium landscape forever.  Those that were there have loads of memories,  some enhanced with the passing of time.

Little or no segregation, early take over of ends . Normal service usually resumed by kick off.

Escorted round the pitch to where away fans should be.

It was a regular occurance .

85% of the time it was bravado and posturing .

15% folk got hurt. 

Football was cheaper ( paid 3 times on the same day to get  into White Hart Lane)  

That away day feeling was a drug . That's why so many did it.

Stadiums and the match Day experience are now so controlled.  

 

Visiting smaller grounds again over the last 8 years has brought back some of the buzz .

But being surrounded by BWFC shirts on away high Streets reflects how things have changed. 

70's and 80's no colours at Away games .

Maybe a scarf tied round ya wrist at home till you were 16.

 

Uproar nowadays over a plastic bottle and an inappropriate chant. Life bans .

 

Youngsters today haven't a bloody clue.

In a nutshell. New Year's Eve 2005. Posh seats courtesy of @Casino. Abour 4 rows back from Bobby Charlton and his like. We equalised so that prompted Traf and myself to introduced ourselfs to everyone around us. We then went on to concede 3 more goals. Every goal we got more grief from the folk behind us. Traf said "fuck this" stood up and proceeded to verbally give it to them. Bloke at side of me, who we had no issues with the entire game went for me. I thumped him with my rolled up complimentary prog and we rolled around a bit. Stewards came down and, very politely I must add, asked us to leave.

Casino had some explaining to do with his boss's when he went back to work.
